The lesson is: The Right does not want us

The Democrats can be more right-wing in some ways than the Republicans, but the lesson is the Right doesn't want us. Conservative America will ONLY vote Republican. There's no point in us going further to the right.

Reagan discovered the well of right-wing nonvoters when he found the fundies. Turning them into active voters has given the Republicans an advantage in the elections. We need to find our own well. I think it exists among the poor. I think that's where Dean would have looked. At any rate, we need to find a few million nonvoters, since we're not going to get the Right to vote Democratic.
