3. You really should trace it back to 1932, or 1964.
That's when they really started re-organizing.

4. they did these faith based thingys
and met in the whitehouse with falwell and robertson..
so they had all the evengelicals voting against their own needs.

they had churches all over american organzing to get them in, that left the party folks to do dirty tricks.

5. strategy we could have used.
we should have blanketed these churches with flyers saying bush supported gay marraige .. /civil unions and give the quote where he said he supported civil unions.. same sex/sex

should have also put his quotes about backing the arms bill if it came to his desk.

We should have hit church parking lots with this info..

We should have talked up the social programs for the poor and children on the same flyer and talked about how Dems have always worked hard for the poor.

6. started with local elections
Look around - lots of local races are won by repukes. Of course, that could just be here (FL). But the religious right started by taking over the communities and then worked their way up.

7. look back to '64 and '32
The modern republican party was born the day after Barry Goldwater went down hard.

Right wing political thinkers got their word out, found converts, reinforced their ideas, and from the depths of 1964 they gave us Nixon, had a setback, then sprung the Regan revolution on us. It wasn't an accident.

Funny thing about republicans, they tend to write down where they are and where they see themselves going. two or three decades later they wind up getting there.
