How would your candidate affect your life?

"You should get involved in who's going to be elected because things presidents do affect kids."

So I got to thinking, how would your candidate affect your life on the most personal levels?

For me, it's buying into the same health plan federal employees have. College for my son. The Nurse Reinvestment Act for my daughter. Renewable energy and global engagement for a better world for my grandkids.

1. I wouldn't want to move to Canada so much.

Plus, I would be pretty thrilled if our country did not enter the relm of fascism. I think that 8 of the 9 candidates can help with that one. I wish that Lieberman would just freaking admit that he is a republican.

3. I would feel as if my children had a chance

to grow up in a country that respected the world, and was given respect in return.

That they might actually live to see a day when Americans voted again, when words like Democracy and Republic were used inspirationally, not as shields to hide corporatism and facism, and when America could live up to the idealistic dream that ANY PERSON could grow up to be President of the United States.

That my children will have a decent education, that they will have the opportunity to work just enough to support their leisure pursuits, instead of the other way around, and that their work will not be predetermined for them, nor that they find themselves driven into a corporate work environment, trying to balance their bills against their dreams.

I want my children to be free, happy, and proud of their lives, community, and country. I hope that their lives are an adventure, and that they always have an abundance of hope to pass on to the generations of children that come after.

How would my candidate deliver on this dream of mine? All he has to do is keep fighting, keep leading, and keep reminding us that it is not a Dem that will beat Bush, nor will Bush beat himself.

The power belongs to the people. We can defeat Bush, and all that that implies. Before this year, I think I had forgotten that power, or had been convinced that the power had died.

But that has all changed.

4. How Do I love Dean....Let me count the ways

When Dr. Dean is our President:

1. I would not be afraid I would not get paid for over-time work.

2. If I lose my job where I've worked for twenty years, I would still have health insurance. ( I take a lot of Medicine) I'm getting old.

3. If my job goes away, their will be other job openings and I could be trained for them.

4. I would not be scared my social security is going to vanish because of poor money management.

5. The air I breath would not be so polluted that I have problems.

6. Ditto on all the things the other people have written - I could go on and on and on .. but I have to eat breakfast

6. My financial burden would not be so

big on my family with a big tax credit for college. A lot of my friends could afford better schools.

I won't be so weary of entering the job market in two years.

With any of the nine, my President's words would not be a liability. His words would not end up on calendars and able to fill a whole book of stupidity. All nine speak eloquently and with confidence.

7. I could get on with my life knowing a capable leader is in the cockpit

My savings might not melt ahead of time. My kid may attend a decent school. I'd breathe air and have some rights.

8. Kerry's healthcare plan

would change my life. He says he will do something immediately, not with the contingency of balancing the budget first.

9. With President Kucinich,

1. We could take the health care benefits out of negotiations.
Maybe I'd get a raise.
2. If I needed medical care, I wouldn't have to worry about whether
or not it was "covered."
3. My sons could get the medical care they need.
4. I would look forward to going to work again because there would
be support for my efforts in the classroom.
5. I could look forward to retiring before I die.
6. I wouldn't worry about my sons being drafted for a corporate
war. I wouldn't fear that the people I know now serving in the
armed forces would spend their lives needlessly.
7. I wouldn't have to watch my planet deliberately destroyed for
profit.
8. My taxes would be spent on helping heal my country, not destroy
others' for profit.
9. I could feel proud to be an American. No more shame.
10. Educational opportunities for my grandchildren that were not
there for me, or for my children.
