Wouldn't it be the final sweet revenge if the military vote....
went heavily for Kerry. And they had all been lying all along in the polls saying who they would vote for.

I would almost fall to my knees laughing. I'm not so sure that won't happen.

if soldiers in Iraq are allowed to vote and have their votes count.
I know 5 veterans back from Iraq voting for Kerry. I don't know any voting for Bush.

3. Don't mean to burst your bubble, but...
the military vote will be more than 2-1 for Bush. I'm an active duty guy, and just moved to a new base, to boot, and in both my old duty station and new one, it's overwhelmingly for Bush.

I just keep my mouth shut, for I am a lowly captain in a room full of people who outrank me all day. But when news came out about the Fox poll showing Kerry ahead by two, there was a lot of shock and nervousness floating about.

Except at my cubicle. :)

4. But 2-1 is sure a lot better than

the 5 or 6 to one that the military usually comes down for Repugs!

In fact, if polls/repugs are counting on traditional military numbers, we can be sure there's a surprise coming!

Also, if you're among officers, it's always been the case that officers broke republican even more strongly than the guys on the ground.

In fact, IF I remember correctly, in the past it was 7:1 repub. amongst officers!

11. Just Curious Tolania ....
what about your vote; your in-laws vote; your parents vote; and the votes of the wives/husbands; in-laws; parents; etc of the 9 out of 10 guys in your husband's platoon. Are these votes going Kerry or Bush. My understanding is that the significant others of GI's keep in touch and have their own support group. You must be talking with these people - what are they saying? Again - my theory is that we will see all these support groups break for Kerry and that's a lot of votes.

14. My vote is Kerry, of course
Edited on Mon Nov-01-04 06:46 PM by Tolania
my parents and grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins are all democrats. Only my sister is a recent repug. My in-laws don't normally vote but most seem to be going to Kerry (we don't know for sure with all, my husband doesn't get along with most of his family). The wives of the soldiers (all men) that are married vote their husband's choice for the ones I know of. Their families, I don't know. I know some are for Kerry, at least. Oh, and none of these guys are officers but the one officer my husband feels comfortable talking about this subject with (can't put down your Commander in Chief, you know)... voting Kerry.

Edit...missing word

5. Something Else To Consider.....
is that the bulk of military that has or is serving in Irag right now are not pro-*. I talked to a few recently and they will vote Kerry. These are guys that returned from their tours and are potentially suseptible to be called back. They indicated that some of the millitary still serving in Iraq right now (their buddies) may be intimidated to vote for * - BUT - their immediate and extended families and significant others back here in the states will be voting Kerry. Now think of how many votes that may swing for Kerry. The military vote is really bigger than just the military themselves. One has to consider how many people each and every soldier touches and that these people have an ax to grind with *. We will see multiples of some percentage of the 140,000 GI's.

7. Most of the troops in Iraq are National Guard
it's the career military folks who support Bush. There's a big difference between the two groups. Keep in mind that for the career types, war is good.

9. Career Military Folks that are....
sitting back here in the states or not in the war zone who are just calling the shots may think "War Is Good" - but career military folks that are sitting in the midst of the "Bushmire" on the front lines waiting to attack Falluja or Ramadi don't really think that "War Is Good". Not when their life is on the line. They're concerned about career ending issues beyond their control. Their families aren't very "Gung Ho" either. I think that the military vote and the extended military vote is going Kerry in a big way.

12. To g.o.p.er
What conceiveable reason do they use to stand by this president trainee moron ?

Is it that it was well planned?

Is it that they had sufficient military supplies preparation.

Is it that they're not being infiltrated even in their green zone?

Is it that they aren't being criticized by Guiliani for not securing the most dangerous explosives in Iraq?

Is it that they are having excellent meals?

Is it that service time of duty expirations are not being cancelled?

Is it that 10,000 of their buddies badly wounded already, 1100 killed, and 100,000 innocent Iraq citizens dead, no problem to them.

Is it that Alquqaa has now been determined to be only the tip of the iceberg of lost explosives?

Is it that Bush has never attended one military funeral, or even called one military family, so they're happy?

Is it that Bush is going to charge veterans who were wounded in Iraq a $250 "enlistment" fee to get VA care?

Is it that they enjoy fighting a war in a country that did absolutely nothing to the US?

Is it that Bush has not created more terrorists and put a bullseye square on their back?

Or, is it all of the above. Because if they vote for him, that's how dumb they are.

16. My Marine son-in-law and my daughter are in Okinawa..pro Bush but
I found out today neither one voted, but they don't want to talk to me about it.

I mentioned that I was going to do everything I could do tomorrow at Demo. headquarters to get that sonofabitch out of the white house, and daughter said she didn't want my 2 cents.

But I was secretly glad 2 less military votes.

YIPPEE I'm sure there are many more who just didn't vote.
