Voting in Virginia - How late are they open until?
I'm deciding whether to vote in the morning or after work... does anyone know how to find out when they close?

I'm in the DC area part of Virginia... I can barely make it home by 7 most days... its a good thing they make voting so easy, huh?

get there first if you can. Take no chances on suppression efforts. The key is to fill the early lines with Dems, then if the flying monkeys try to supress the vote, they'll be gumming up the system for their people.

I would SO love to see Virginia turn blue.

4. I will be at polls in VA at 6am!
I live in a small town so hopefully lines won't be long. However, if they are I'm still waiting no matter how long it takes!!!

there will be a steady flow of early voters starting at 6 am so get there early! And be patient, we (the poll workers) are sleepy too!

for those with flexible schedules, the lines are normally shortest in mid morning and mid afternoon. Anyone in line at 7 will get to vote.

bring an ID. Acceptable IDs are..

a driver's license
Virginia voter card
original Social Security card
ID issued by Government Agency
an ID issued from an employer if it has your name and a PHOTO.

If someone challenges you, all you need is one of the above IDs, and you'll have to sign an affidavit of identify (a form that says "yes I am who I say I am.") Then you vote as normal.

If you are a party worker outside of the polling place and you see a repuk harassing voters PLEASE go inside and tell the poll workers. We are empowered to call the cops and the cops will answer poll calls first (after life-threatening situations of course).

FYI, in Virginia the Chief Election Office in each Precinct is a Democrat, the deputy is a republican. (the chief represents the Governor's party) This may not hold true if the board of elections could not find any Democratic volunteers for that precinct, but I doubt that will be common, especially in the north of the state and in cities.
