Media Blackout on another BEHEADING in Iraq- a Japanese citizen
Edited on Sun Oct-31-04 07:35 AM by npincus
This is the number one story in the Japanese media; one of their citizens was kidnapped by Zarqawi's group several days ago and seen on video begging for his life, and asking that Japan's Self Defense Force leave Iraq immediately. His headless body was found yesterday, and ID confirmed through fingerprints. He was a young, nice-looking man who, believe-it-or-not, was in Iraq as a TOURIST. Folly aside, it is tragic for him and a huge story in Japan, with the Prime Minister and leadership commenting on this.

Now, what does it say that a citizen of one of our most loyal 'friends' in the 'coalition of the willing' has one of its citizens beheaded and there is a MEDIA BLACKOUT just because it is election time. Italian and Polish hostages in Iraq were big stories here. But not even a mention about this (unless I am wrong- please post link).

My husband is Japanese so we get a Japanese cable TV plus he watches Japanese news on basic cable. When he wakes up, I will ask him to find the story on the web and I'll post it here.

I attribute this to timing and not racism.
