Many of us in NYC live without cars (also without lawns) so there are no bumpersticker opportunities (or lawn signs). What has cropped up in my neighborhood is a sticker war.
People print little stickers on Avery labels, address label sizes, and they stick them on whatever, newspaper kiosks, phonebooths, parking meters, etc. Lately there have been a lot in the phonebooths. So I'm walking home and I see a couple of the bush toast stickers in some phone booths - fine.
The next day, someone has torn the stickers (they are a witch to peel off) and written in big black marker "Kerry is a freud! Merry for $$ 2x" Now I'm pretty sure they didn't mean that Kerry was a psychotherapist or that he is happy around money but that is what they wrote.
Third day, a sticker the size of a whole sheet of paper with "War Criminals" in headline and pics of Cheney, Bush, Ashcroft and Rummy is stuck right over most of the marker stuff.
I expect to see a semi-illiterate answer written four feet high in response today. Only in New York.
