TOM DELAY: "I don't think it's my job to improve education."
Edited on Thu Oct-28-04 09:17 AM by Richardo
Sorry if a dupe. I'm sharing an e-mail from Richard Morrison, running against DeLay in TX District 22:

Thanks to you, we reached last week's goal of $100,000 to run more Morrison spots in District 22. The Introduction spot will be aired tonight in Game 4 of the World Series because of your contributions. It will be apparent to all the Houston viewers watching the World Series that Tom DeLay's name-calling charges on Richard for being a dirty "liberal" are just that - meaningless insults.

We can't give up now. With less than a week to go, our last Get Out the Vote efforts are the most critical. We have two new spots to run and every dollar you can spare will go toward getting them on TV. Please donate today.

Judging by the last few days, Tom DeLay has figured out what we already knew: this race is real. He and his sketchy PACs are flooding the airwaves with ads, and of course have already gone negative - if you can open Real Media files, check out this clip:

He's even begun going door-to-door. There's no doubt that DeLay is on the run.

Last week, after first dismissing the Clear Lake High School Debate Club Candidates Forum as not important enough to attend, Tom DeLay made a surprise appearance.

TOM DELAY: I don't think it's my job to improve education.

RICHARD MORRISON: President Bush stood beside Senator Kennedy and passed the No Child Left Behind Act, and under Mr. Delay's leadership, that act has been woefully underfunded. And when Mr. Delay began his redistricting, the Governor and the Lieutenant Governor told him, "Don't do this, because we know we're gonna need the political capital to get something done about Robin Hood." Mr. Delay came down here and said, "No, the priority is my redistricting to increase my power." Now, the Lieutenant Governor and the Governor no longer have the political capital to fix our broken Robin Hood system. I think we need to hold him accountable for that.

WE CAN DO THIS. In a recent interview with Washington political newspaper The Hill, when asked if he thought his support was down among voters, Tom DeLay said, "I don’t know if it is or not. We’ll see on Election Day.”

Yes we will, Tom. We'll all see on Election Day.

-------------------------------------------------------

If you can, help Morrison - this race has national impact like no other.

1. I will never agree with DeLay
because he's one of the biggest ****holes I know. Having said that, I want to be sure that President Kerry and all other democrats and open-minded republicans understand that to improve education, they must listen to teachers; not ex-army guys like Reid Lyon who think they know about teaching children because he was a teacher for two years in the seventies. Teachers are considered part of the problem by this administration no matter what they say. So if DeLay doesn't want to deal with education, fine with me. I'm sick of politicians sticking their nose in it anyhow.

2. Delay is an idiot and is also getting desperate
Delay is a scum bag of major portions. The fact that he has gone negative and is going door to door shows that this is a real race.

I have contributed to Richard Morrison's campaign and I hope that he wins. Mr. Morrison is a good man and deserves our support.
