7. Unbelievable. I'm a long-time Yankee fan, but I've been rooting for the
Sox because, I (like you, apparently) believe that the Red Sox' fate is inextricably tied to the Senator from Massachusetts to the degree that my brain/heart/soul said: "A Red Sox win = a big Kerry win, a Red Sox loss still = a Kerry win, but by a smaller margin.

With all that said, I'm still working as if we're 20 points behind.

Go Sox!

on Kerry winning. The similarity will be looked at by many.

11. Gotta admit I was very wrong about Boston.
Thought for sure St. Louis would win, and certainly didn't expect them to be swept.

Congrats to the people of Boston, who've waited a long time for this !

14. They were pathetic for a team that was touted as being so strong
They didn't even put up much of a fight. It reminded me of the Braves - the way they're always so good on paper and in the regular season but usually collapse in the post season. No toughness.

18. Actually they scored nine runs in game one alone
Not that it mattered. I'm a Cardinals fan, and as such am sad and disappointed in my team's utter collapse, but if there is any team in the Major Leagues I don't mind losing to, it's the Red Sox, and if there's any year I don't mind losing to the Red Sox, it's this year. So, congratulations, and I think this is just the beginning of some serious good karma for Massachusetts.

20. This Victory of the Red Sox, Actually Can Have an Effect . . .
Many believed that John Glenn's trip back into outer space elevated the Democratic vote in 1998. So who knows?

A Red Sox win suddenly elevates Massachussettes and Boston favorably, and there's a person running for President from that state. It has some type of psychological effect to promote spirit and hope and make one motivate to go to the polls. :)
