Matthews hits Don Evans HARD
Relentlessly asking him what ever happened to Iraq's Oil paying for the War...the guy couldn't give an answer, over and over again...looked horrible.

4. I think it would be silly of me
to think my email to him actually worked, but he's really doing what I challenged him to do here's what I sent him

"Mr. Matthews,

Why do you insist on playing softball with the right? Have you lost
your journalistic nerve? Have you given up? Or, have you become
another ratings whore?

MSNBC has over the past 3 months has run quickly to the Right side of
the field. You sir, have taken the express lane to the Right
Cheerleader camp. I used to be able to turn on Hardball and see a
liberal, reporting from the center and holding people accountable for
their lies. I am no longer able to do that, and I am saddened. You
used to be the person whom the American People could count on to
challenge people like Ben Ginsburg. You used to be the person that
would fight for the release of important reports. You used to favor
journalism over partisan politics. Those days have, I regret to say,
passed. I along with millions of American viewers have watched as you
fold to the likes of Ginsberg, Buchanan. The most saddening thing of
all though, is how you've let your friendship with Joe Scarborough
diminish your ability to challenge him. You continually put lopsided
panels on your show, 3 republicans (not including yourself) and only
the soft spoken Ron Reagan to argue the side of the left.

Why sir are you so afraid of being viewed as liberal that you will
swing wide right?

I challenge you to, in the last week and a half of this most important
election, become a journalist again. I challenge you to raise the
issue of the CIA 9/11 report, to fight for its release before the
election. I challenge you to question your guests, your friends, and
your co-workers on air. A failure to rise to the challenge will only
hurt the American People, those whom journalists like yourself have a
responsibility to fight for. I challenge you to once again be a voice
for the people who rely on your integrity to get their truth. I
challenge you to be YOURSELF again; the Carter speech writer, the
investigative reporter, the father of a draft-able son, the patriot
you once were. Where, sir, have your
questions gone?

I challenge you to make me once again believe you will fight for the
truth when you say: "Let's Play Hardball"

Thank You,"

5. Evans said ... we invaded Iraq to protect our country from terrorism...
Edited on Wed Oct-27-04 06:28 PM by meti57b
(or some such) and our nation and the world are more secure because we invaded, so we couldn't ask them to pay us for liberating them, with oil. Matthews should have followed up with ..... but they were not an imminent threat, had no WMDs and had no connection to al quaida..... so invading Iraq did not make us more secure. THen ask again why they don't use their oil to reimburse us.

6. No matter how Evans spun
Tweety kept coming back to the same question. When will Iraq begin paying for their own reconstruction? He even asked him what if we put that money ($87B?) into Ohio. What effect would it have?

8. Evans kept saying that we will make any sacrifice for security...
I kept waiting for Tweety to ask what sacrifice Evans and his buddies have ever made, but he let it slide.
