Richard Dryfuss on Randi Rhodes right now just said....
"Kerry is going to win big and bigger than anybody thinks". I have been saying this for weeks.

Dryfuss said he went to London to place a bet on Kerry and he wanted the odds on a large point spread (5%+). He said they WOULD NOT take the bet as the risk for the HOUSE was too high!!!

2. I have to say....Randi should not have celebs on her show
she is so rude to them and won't let them talk. I love Randi, but she always does this. The only celeb she let talk was Rosie and that's cause Rosie talks louder. She even overtalked Rochard Holbrooke, for christ's sake.

OTOH, I liked Dreyfuss' opinion about Kerry's big win.

5. This interrupting thing has become pandemic.
It has ruined public discourse. Interrupting was once considered rude in the extreme. Another sign of the times.

8. Trying to copy right-winger radio
It's not just Randi. I am glued to AAR - they almost all do it. What I dislike is the guy that goes on a shouting monologue at night until 9 .

It is just not necessary for them to shout, or interrupt. I don't turn on AAR into order to hear a rant. I turn it on in order to be enlightened and inform. I am also looking for fun and entertainment. Skewering the right is fun but hearing someone be rude is not fun for me. I had to turn the radio off last night until the ranter was finished. I have no idea what he was saying - the yelling is all I can remember.

There is only a very small part of the population who enjoys rude behavior and they are listening to Rush and the others.

6. Rude to CELEBRITIES?!? She's rude to everyone...
Even people who agree with her and trying to make a point that she agrees with.

I just cannot listen to her anymore. I tried for a very long period of time but just cannot stand to listen to her. I'm all for rudeness and dishing out the smack downs when its warranted. But when you do it to people who are agreeing with you it's just sad.

4. Of course
Mr Dreyfuss had to ask Randi for a chance to talk. I like her but its embarrassing how she will not let guests speak.

7. I love the way you guys give Randi shit, like she's 16 years old...:)
SHe's a grown woman, who's worked her ass off, AND is very opinionated... but also incredibly smart & savvy. If anyone of us could accomplish what she has, I bet we'd be pretty cocky & cynical too. Give the lady a break. SHE FUCKIN ROCKS & if Kerry wins (and I'm feeling confident that we will win) it will be in part because she got AAR going. AL franken as well.

9. You can have an opinion
and still recognize that there are standard rules of interview discourse. She is NOT a good interviewer and she shouldn't do it if she doesn't know how.

She's good at what she does (although I'm not a fan) she should leave the ranting for when she doesn't have a guest.

IMO

10. Yep -- what Irancontra said!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I first heard Randi on the radio in Miami a few years back -- and IF Kerry wins Florida it will be in large part because Randi was on the air waves educating her listening audience.

She knew her facts -- my friend turned on the radio and said -- here's a woman who agrees with your opinion about the bush administration and the 2000 election. I didn't believe that a liberal would have a drive time talk radio spot -- but there she was spouting fact -- facts and more facts and nailing the bush gang to the wall -- figuratively speaking of course.

My friends in Miami were very knowledgeable politically -- because of Randi Rhodes. She also entertains and is funny. Randi is also so very human.

Randi has only been doing this nationally since March of this year!

Thank god for Randi and Mike Malloy and all the other veteran talk show hosts -- and even the newbies! These liberals are reaching the young adults -- and this is the voting block Kerry needs to win (as well as women etc etc.)

11. She and Mike Malloy
are for the "red meat" lovers of the dem side. I like them for that reason, but agree that Randi is better at ranting than interviewing.

13. I agree she really knows her stuff
I agree with all you say and I appreciate all she's done.

I am just concerned that the current idea about how to be successful at talk radio is to imitate the style of right-wingers and I don't believe it works. That isn't to say that everyone always has to be restrained - lots of right-wingers need to be attacked verbally.I understand O'Neill was shouted down - now, that is so overdue.

But just as an everyday method of discourse, I've prefer it if speakers were polite and spoke in reasoned tones. That's just me.

12. I so agree about Randi's interviewing style
I love Randi but she is not a good listener in these types of interviews. I've had to turn her off during interviews because I feel truly embarrassed for her and uncomfortable for her guests. David Corn is on weekly and they finally have a certain rhythm. I recall David Corn saying "you really don't need a guest do you". He fought back, now it generally seems to work. Do you think Randi is aware of this and thinks it's OK or is just oblivious?
