Polls, polls, polls my head is spinning........
with all the bad news I see in these polls. I firmly believe that in spite of all the polls showing * ahead in all these different places the whole election will be decided by turnout. If the Democrats in this country get out and vote Kerry will win, plain and simple. At this stage of the game no one but the most hard headed people haven't made up their minds and that number has got to be minuscule. Hope for good weather on election day all across the country and hope that the people get the message that they must get to the polls and rid this nation of this corrupt administration. To defeat the GOP attack machine and the right wing media will be will be monumental and will start this country in the right direction.

1. What bad news?
Look at the trend:

Gallup uses a more republican-heavy sample than last week by 3%, and at the same time, slashes *'s lead by 3 percent.

Rasmussen has Kerry up today for the first time since Aug. 23rd.

WaPo tracking poll has Bush up by 1 (yesterday's, we'll see what today's poll is in 10 minutes) after having him up by 5 and 4 the previous 2 days.

Zogby is where he's been for the last week or so.

What bad news?

7. Polls I saw on MSNBC.....
a while ago bad * up 5 points in Ohio and 3 points up in Florida. I really am concerned with the state polls not the nationals. It just seems to me that every time I see a poll it has the chimp with a lead. That is why I am so concerned with turnout. I hope you are right and Kerry is holding his own, but am concerned because of what message they send to voters i.e. "he's losing so why should I bother voting".

8. oh you mean the zogby polls
MSNBC only shows when Bush is ahead?

All the other polls , including Kerry's internal have him ahead in FL, Ohio and PA.

2. Can't rely on polls this election - too many new voters, voters w/o
land lines in the house. Technologically speaking, things have changed a lot since 2000. I know so many people who only have cell phones, it's not funny. These people I know are all voting, and cell phones aren't called in polls. Also, to be a likely voter, you had to have voted in 2000. We have record voter registration this election. Nothing conventional about this race. the country is so divided that it really depends on WHERE they call. Only polls I even remotely look at are state polls.

3. One Poll
The only polls that really matters are the exit polls. Exit polls are usually dead on. And will point the way to BBV miscounts.

If the exit polling gets "canceled" as it did in 2002, we are in trouble. Otherwise......

4. I'm honestly not seeing any bad news
but at this point the polls don't really matter. Whatever is going to happen is going to happen. There's no reacting to the polls anymore.

6. Nothing but good news
Judging by momentum and likely TURNOUT the polls are showing growing inevitability for a Kerry win in all the major battleground states. Even if the polls were used more fairly than in 2000(hah) or less, the results in trajectory and comparisons would be about the same.

Next, Bush has done NOTHING to stop his slide and Kerry's momentum which is entirely predictable for a Kerry victory next week.

Finally, all the skulduggery is being exposed and fought and the Bush troops may soon be on the brink of WTF "do I want to go to jail for a lost cause?".

Yes there will be outrages that may offset the stimulus backlash they give to more Kerry voters but nothing near what they accomplished last time. The entire spotlight will be cast with astute and watching eyes upon touch screen voting and tallying.

As of today, Bush cannot win, the windows for surprise comebacks are shutting down, and it seems just to be getting better.

As of today, with new Bush disasters in Iraq, it appears moving to the area of landslide.

9. Nothing but good news out there?
Apparently some people seem think that there is nothing but good news out there for Kerry. They are the same people who would be wildly cheering if the polls were pointing in our favor. The fact of the matter is, the polls and more importantly, their trend, aren't painting a pretty picture. This is gonna be a tight one.
