ROFLMAO - Bush Campaign still courting California
As painful as it was, I signed up for Bush's email list awhile ago as part of opporesearch. These idiots are still trying to reach "undecideds" in Fucking CALIFORNIA!!!!! Here is the email I recieved today. Desperation. BWAHAHAHAAHAHHAH

Snip:
"Only eight days remain between now and the election. Our inbox is flooded with notes from people all over America who have already cast their votes for President Bush by absentee ballot, or in person. Many others have told us they plan to vote on Election Day. They have committed to make sure every Bush supporter they know goes to the polls with them.

Turning out our supporters is critical, but just as critical is reaching out to the California voters who remain undecided. This pool of voters is shrinking daily, but there is still time to reach those who have not made up their mind. Let them know why President Bush is the right choice for their state.

There's an old saying that goes, "All politics is local." As a former Governor, I couldn't agree more.

To reach the undecided voters, we need to make our message local as well. That's why we have created special web pages for every state - to tell every voter why President Bush is the best choice based on the local issues important to them.

We encourage you to share our California page with friends, family and neighbors who live near you and may still be undecided.

Forward this message to five undecided voters using the form below. Make sure the people that live near you understand George Bush's commitment to California and why he is the best person to lead our nation.

Thanks again for your continued support. Eight days to Victory!

Sincerely,

Marc Racicot
Chairman

P.S. All politics is local. That's why we have created special web pages for every state. Share our California page with friends, family and neighbors who live near you and may still be undecided."

6. Thought I would point out that the popular vote count
is also in play. Yeah I know Gore won that last time and it wasn't worth a free pass on D.C. transit, but we don't play as ruthless as Republicans do. If Bush squeaks out a popular vote "mandate" they will milk it for every thing they can, and maybe use it to justify stealing the election again.

I have a Progressive Congressman in New York. He is urging us to deliver a 2 million vote cushion to Kerry here, to offset Bush voters in Conservative states.

A hundred thousand extra Bush votes in California, even with the electoral vote a forgone conclusion, might have some value to the Bush team.

7. 2 reasons
1. Fundraising. CA is always a go-to state for money, both parties

2. Popular vote. In the impossible event that Bush wins the electoral vote, they want as high a popular vote figure as possible to claim
"legitimacy." This is also why Dem turnout in safe states is important.

there are no local * ads in CA that I've seen (some national cable, of course), and email is cheap way of turning out what they can.

Not that Bush has them, but the RNC likely is worried that with a BIG Dem showing for Kerry, you'll see a much higher straight ticket vote as well. I suspect that the can't fail GOP majorities in house and senate are beginning to look a little more fallible now with #1 on the ticket faltering in the stretch.

BTW, in Washington State, I've been doing a sign survey in my travels recently. Even in the traditionally more conservative suburbs on the Eastside (Redmond, Bellevue, Kirkland, Issaquah, etc.) I'm seeing VERY few Bush signs (about 10-1 Kerry). Local races are getting more play, including Gov. and Senator, but even with clusters that are obviously GOP, you'll see Kerry signs amid Dem clusters but no Bush signs amid GOP clusters. While its just a premise, it would seem to indicate that Bush is becoming poison to local GOP candidates (I also note that a lot of ad campaigns that started out with Candidate X saying he supported George Bush's War on Terror have begun playing new ads where the chimp is nowhere in sight). Given the cost of retooling these ads, my suspicion is that GOP locals are desperately trying to distance themselves from Bush as their internal polls tell them that he's dragging them down.
