Mathews panel declaring Kerry victory?

Just finished watching Mathew's Sunday show, and while no one flatly declared that Kerry was going to win, that was the clear impression I got from their commentary. H. Fineman said that the Kerry campaign people were "pumped", and that the *'s people were "worried". All four panelists acknowledged that the new voter registration was unprecedented in scale, and even that bitch Andrea Mitchell acknowledged that the majority of those would be breaking for Kerry. In predicting/back seat driving the next week for the campaigns- the consensus was that * would and should keep hitting the national panic button, while Kerry could/should just go positive and appear presidential to coast to victory.
Did I see the same show as everybody else? It sounded to me like they sounded *'s death knell today.

4. Judy Woodruff was on Air Force One the other day

and she was talking to the WH press corps and one of them (can't remember which one it was) said that behind closed doors the Chimp's campaign is VERY worried. My jaw dropped when they said that because NO ONE ever tells what happens behind the chimp's closed doors. That particular journalist has probably been banned from AF One now, but it was nice to hear they're worried and the sacrifice was worth it! Their inside polls must reflect the same results as the Kerry inside polls. The chimp is toast!

I think the media is finally seeing the writing on the wall. It's about damn time. They're probably pissed as hell that their non-stop Bush shilling did absolutely NO GOOD.

I agree that thinks are starting to look good for us. You can always tell the way that a campaign is going by the way they are acting. Kerry/Edwards are obviously confident while the Bush campaign is starting to get the aura of desperation.
I think we will see things starting to open up Kerry's way in the next few days (e.g. the polls).
Even the shrub knows he's going down.

Something started happening about the time of Reagan. An ugliness began to creep into the party that had never been there before. Nixon was a crook, but he would be considered a liberal by Republican standards today: he presided over opening relations with "red" China, and the creation of the EPA. Eisenhower, don't forget, was a big part of the creation of the modern Interstate road system - it helped make the country modern. Theodore Roosevelt was the trust buster, the Republican president who helped create anti-trust laws to bust up the Oligopolies and Monopolies.

If Chimp loses I predict a major crisis in the Republican party, as the reasonable people who have been going along for the ride but getting ever more worried begin to ask where they belong, what they can do, and where they should go.

I am such a believer in Kemp I considered (for a moment) voting for Dole when he ran as veep. Gosh, can I say that here?

It's in the "doing" that it gets all screwed up. There will be people who will think Gordon Smith, my R Senator, is a great guy because he's promoting suicide prevention for teens. Well sure, now that HIS kid committed suicide. Before that, his youth legislation always leaned towards locking them up. It's like that woman in the C-Span focus group, if it was HER kid who was a hostage, she'd want Kerry because he wouldn't be so likely to play Rambo and screw it up. Well, gee, why can't she apply that logic to EVERYBODY'S kids. That's what I hate about Republicans and it seems to be the same, time and again. I don't know why Jack Kemp cares about inner cities, maybe he's got a relative married to a minority, or maybe he saw alot wherever he played football. And it's also whether what he proposes would really work, or whether it's like NCLB, just an underhanded attempt to shut the schools and privatize education. I just don't trust any of them anymore. Gordon Smith's suicide tears on the Senate floor was the last straw for me.

Repub Senator from Illinois during the Johnson administration. He and LBJ would have world class arguments on the Senate floor when LBJ was a Senator, then go have lunch. While a lot of Republican didn't like him personally,I think once Nixon had to resign from office they began to carry a grudge. It wasn't just tough politicking after that, it was nasty. They eviscerated Jimmy Carter (although truth be told he wasn't that good at being President), and then Reagan got in, then Bush '41 with some the of same people in their administration as are in Bush '43's. RW talk radio really became very wide spread during that period, and IMHO has had a lot to do with the demonization of anything Democrat or liberal.
