Please VOLUNTEER to work this election for the Party !
If you have not volunteered to do anything else this election season, and your plan is to sit at home posting on DU all day election day, you are failing us.

Call your local party and volunteer to be a POLL WATCHER !!
It varies from state to state but mtnester posted these definitions for Ohio in another thread, and they are basically the same for most states and localities.

from mtnester's post >>>>>>Ohio definitions are similar to most localities<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

watchers - are not allowed to challenge any voter. There to assist any voter that is denied the right to vote by directing them to their correct precinct, contacting an attorney if voters are being prevented to vote (i.e. deliberate slowing of lines by challengers, see above). Can call an attorney to get an injunction on challengers OR poll workers if they are disenfranchising anyone.

Too many times these terms are used interchangeability. If you are working with Election Protection, you are a WATCHER

If you are registered with the state as a representative of your party to challenge voters eligibility, you are a CHALLENGER

If you are part of the group inside that signs you in, gives you your ballot and your "I Voted" sticker, you are a WORKER.

In OHIO

poll workers - those who are actually logging people in, etc. Under the supervision of the county board of elections

challengers - those who are registered with the state as individuals who can/will challenge the right of an individual to vote based on residency, citizenship, etc. You must be a practicing attorney in Ohio to do this, and the deadline to sign up has passed. A challenger can be removed from the area if they are being deliberate in slowing down the vote, intimidation of voters, etc.
