2nd Local Soldier Killed This Week in Iraq
I live in a relatively small town, and this week there have been TWO front page stories about local soldiers killed in Iraq. The first was an Army Specialist, 20 yrs old, killed in Bayji. Today's report was about a Marine, 19 years old, killed in an explosion in the Al Anbar province. Details are sketchy in both cases.

The father of the very young Marine had this to say: "But the sad thing about all this is that we’re sending boys over there who aren’t trained enough. We’re giving them rifles and sending them into dangerous territories, and I just hope that somebody who’s thinking about joining the Marines and going to Iraq, well, I hope my son’s death will make them think twice."

Goddamnit. 19 years old, and he wanted to be a police officer. What a waste.

Meanwhile I read this story as I was standing in line to pay $2.62/gallon for gas.

What a mess Bush has made.
