whether you agree or disagree about kerry's speaking of cheney's lesbian daughter -- all should agree on one this: it's a great political trap, right out of the republican playbook.


republicans call it an outrage, kerry camp responds, "why should you be ashamed of lesbian daughter? kerry only speaking highly of her and for all gays."

either way, it stays in the news, and bush's base finds out cheney has a daughter who's a "dyke". (sorry, some of my lesbian friends prefer that term, not meant to offend anyone.)


so what comes out of it? offends many in the bush base (those lovely nascar, southern rednecks and bible thumpers)... and though they might not go for kerry in november because of the revelation, 2 or 3% just might stay at home instead.


this is politics baby!!!


if you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen...


and take your lesbian daughter with you!

was necessary but I see the rationale and method. Kerry made the call and we're going with it.

after tomorrow. I'm pretty sure Rove is gonna let it go. They have more damage control to worry about than that. I don't think Kerry thought of that spur of the moment, but he planned on saying that.

What is so embarassing about having a lesbian daughter?

Why is it bad to talk about her?

She is out and proud and her family should be too!

I think Mary Cheney should be ashamed to have a family who wants to stuff her back in the closet this election year (In 2000 the Bush/Cheney team was happy to give her a salary to work the gay vote for the republicans).
