I need to say this near the top of this post.

This debate is different. Unlike Debate 1 (a Thursday event) or Debate 2 (a Friday event), this one is all the way on Wednesday. For Debates 1 & 2, we had a bit more help with the timing: the GOP had less time in which to spin the debate results before the critical weekend news cycle (where opinion usually gels-over). Now, they have a whole 48 hours in which to attempt this.. more time than both of the other debates combined. We need to step-up our efforts to keep them from spinning a Bush failure into a Bush victory (as they've done with so many other things).

Write letters, call radio shows, call TV networks, email everyone & anyone, engage in polite conversation, etc. Take some time to do this. After this debate, that's it - there are no more truly major events left between tonight and Election Day. Kerry, with our help, might put this race to bed tonight.

So let's rock n' roll!

The point of doing this is to counter the "spin" put on these debates, which do not favor our candidates, no matter how well they've done. It was generally assumed that Walter Mondale won his first debate against Ronald Reagan in 1984, until the "spin doctors" decided otherwise. The same was true in the first Bush*-Gore debate in 2000. Gore was said to have won, but now is said to have lost. What we're doing is a defensive, not offensive measure. I agree that this shouldn't be necessary, but I can see that it is.

That anybody at all can possibly say that Bush* won any of these debates, is testament to that. This was his best showing, so far, in that he managed to not lose his temper. For many, this can be seen as a win, they set the bar so low for this guy. I have been proud of John Kerry in these debates. He has articulated clear and informed solutions for the problems left by Bush*-Cheney. Before the debates, I was voting against George Bush*. Now I am voting for John Kerry. Actually, I did see him in a speech he gave before the VFW that sold me, but now I can support him with enthusiasm.

I'm sure that this has been debated before, and not for the last time. The way that the debates are viewed is as important as the content, since too few people are watching and just hearing the post-debate spin and the carefully-chosen sound bytes. We have to let the media know that our candidate won, so they won't say otherwise, influencing voters, and choosing sound bytes that prove this, since these may be all that is seen by many voters.

Our house - five folks watched - thought it was Kerry 80% Bush 20% with how polls likely to shake out. We all agreed Kerry turned in best debate yet, especially since W didn't go rabid and have any excuse for floating such lame and poorly reasoned and fumbling delivery. Keep Kicking.

Notice when you vote for Kerry, it adds one vote to the total, without changing the current percentages. No matter which button you push, the vote is added to Bush's total. Kerry has one vote: 0.4% of 245 is 1 vote; if a vote for Kerry had registered, it would have increased to 2/246, or 0.8%. Instead, the vote is given to Bush, for a total of 245/246 = 99.6% for Bush. If you keep hitting it (from a different IP each time), eventually it will become 0.3% for Kerry. Just watch.
