5. One a friend sent me recently:
Hello dear friends: With only 3weeks before the Presidential election, I felt compelled to share this idea. Together we can do this - and change the world, literally. Here it is:

WHAT TODAYS' MOST SAGE SCIENTISTS ARE SAYING IS THAT WHEN WE FOCUS ON SOMETHING, WE ATTRACT MORE OF IT. SO WITH ONLY FOUR WEEKS LEFT, WE NEED TO FOCUS ON WHAT WE REALLY, REALLY WANT. LET'S JOIN TOGETHER IN THE "60 SECONDS A DAY FOR 3WEEKS CAMPAIGN."

TO TURN THE TIDE NOW, WE NEED TO DO SOMETHING UNSTOPPABLE. WE NEED A CRITICAL MASS OF US TO STOP RAILING AGAINST WHAT IS AND REACH FOR WHAT WE WANT. WHAT DO WE WANT?

We want John Kerry as our next President. Give up focusing on George Bush. We don't have to agree with him or support him in any fashion. Instead, we have to turn our thoughts now to something greater. We have to do something unstoppable. In the legacy of Einstein and all great thinkers, we have to harness the power of our thoughts to get the outcome we desire in November.

PARTICIPATE IN THE "60 SECONDS A DAY FOR 3 WEEKS CAMPAIGN." IF ONLY 3 PERCENT OF THE U.S. POPULATION TAKES 60 SECONDS TO DO THIS EXERCISE EVERY DAY, WE CAN MAKE A MASSIVE DIFFERENCE.

THIS IS HOW IT WORKS: FOR 60 SECONDS EACH DAY visualize John Kerry elected as our next President of the United States. See the relief, the celebrations, the excitement, and the sense of fulfillment all across America. See yourself rejoicing with people in your home, neighborhood, and workplace. See us all rejoicing with people all over the world! See John Kerry being sworn into office. Feel the hope, joy, and gratitude. Feel it in your hearts. Believe it is possible. And be sure to vote!

** Now, imagine John Kerry restoring greater well-being in America.
** See people streaming back to work.
** See young students getting the support they need.
** Visualize our teachers, police officers, single mothers, the mentally ill, and many others getting the help they deserve.
** See our soldiers coming home to their families.
** Imagine our leaders establishing greater trust and good will, earning the respect of other nations.
** See peace spreading across the world.
** See the Iraq conflict ending.
** Feel how good it will be for the environment to be protected and renewed.
** See hope rising across the world in the hearts and souls of those in need.
** See these pictures in your mind for 60 seconds every day between now and November 2.
** Be grateful that you have the gift of participating in shaping a greater country.
** Be grateful that you care. Believe that all this is possible, -and more! Please be sure to vote!

PASS THIS ON TO SIX MORE PEOPLE: "60 SECONDS A DAY FOR 4 WEEKS!"

15. Its ok to be an atheist, my dad was one, its no big deal, but you could
express your feeling in a more polite way. Most dems are either agnostic, atheist, or very very liberal Christians who don't shove their stuff down other people's throats like the fanatical fundamentalists who want a theocracy.

25. Most democrats are believers
I think most democrats are actually much more mainstream religious than a lot of people think. The idea that it's otherwise is based on an illogical conclusion that "atheists etc. tend to be democrats" implies "democrats tend to be atheists etc.". It simply doesn't follow, but this type of illogic is common.

<http://www.beliefnet.com/story/139/story_13948_1.html#cont>

"61 percent of Democrats reporting that they pray daily or more often."

That's DAILY or MORE.

"Another measure of spirituality is whether people believe in life after death. The percentage of people who do believe that and are Republican: 94 percent. The percentage that are Democratic: 92 percent."

Hardly any difference there, the main difference is an church attendence, republicans 51.9% weekly attendence, democrats 37.4%, which isn't really a huge diffence, and weekly attendence is NOT a measure of one's spirituality, ethics, or morality.

I, as a quite liberal democrat, believe in God and life after death. I don't believe in Darwinism, evolution in a very general sense yes, but not Darwinism, and don't think Darwinism should be taught in public schools as if it is scientific fact. I don't think the fossil record supports it. It's better just to present the evidence, what the different beliefs are, and leave it at that, people can believe what they want to. I will not debate this here, there are plenty of other forums to do that.

36. I pray
that if God find John Kerry to be a worthy candidate, that he strengthens and supports John in this debate, so that he do his best.

I pray that those watching the debate do so with an open mind and a clear head.

I pray that the better man to be president be revealed for all to see tonight, whoever that man should be (I know who *I* think that is, but it's best not to tell God his business).

I pray that our country be given another chance to pull ourselves away from the brink and redeem our country, so that it will once again reflect values we can be proud of.

Amen.

28. "and deliver us from evil"
...an excerpt from the most powerful prayer on earth...the prayer the man from Galilee (sp?) taught us to pray. I think it about covers it. Does it for me.......remember saying it in Paris in Notre Dame a month after the devil was sworn in as president of the US of A. Way early in the morning. One of the first people there in a dark, dark church not yet flooded by people. Most haunting experience in my life in this almost 1,000 year old tribute to faith. I'll never forget it and I've trusted that he will answer. I know he will answer someday and in sometime.

The Lord is my life's refuge;
of whom am I afraid?
When evildoers come at me to devour my flesh,
These my enemies and foes themselves stumble and fall.
Though an army encamp against me,
my heart does not fear;
Though war be waged against me,
even then do I trust."

I had this thought walking home from the train tonight. Perhaps B* is a warning from god that we really need to get better organized and take the hypocritical fundamentalists as a serious problem and an insult to god.

I'll be praying for Kerry - not just for us, but for the future of the world. I pray not only for political change, but to put the brakes on conservative Christian fanaticism so we have a change to work on letting people know they are not truly what the word of god is about!

A good a courageous man, both on the battlefield and off.

God bless him for his valor, his courage, his conviction, and his honor.

He is fighting the good fight for all of us. Lord, please, in Your wisdom and might, do not allow evil to triumph, all Your children, brown, red, yellow, black, and white, are begging for Your Divine intervention. We can not do it alone.

Only You know how truly hateful and evil are the men controlling the most powerful government the world has ever known.

Please, dear God in heaven, give us a chance to do your work of restoring peace and justice by guiding Your servant, John Forbes Kerry, tonight as he tries to convince those who evil doers have led astray.

God Bless John Kerry.

God please let each man show their true colors to the nation so Americans can/will make an educated decision in the coming election.

That prayer "worked" for the first debate quite well. :)

My Prayers, thoughts are with Mr K. and our Nation tonight, let's hope/pray that this is the beginning of the end of the long nightmare also known as "pResident Bush" !

Lord, thousands of people are praying tonight that one candidate or the other would prevail. Tonight, we pray that your peace will prevail throughout our land, and throughout the whole world.

We ask you to bless those who are watching, hoping to find guidance in their choice this year.

We ask that you be with those who cannot watch - especially all our service personnel in Iraq, Afghanistan, and throughout the world.

We ask that the voices of the poor, the disenfranchised, the lonely, the frightened, and others left behind may be heard tonight. Offer all of us a bright vision of the future, where peace may reign, and your kingdom of love may come to all on earth.

Amen.

57. God Bless Kerry tonight and the rest of America.
Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.
Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled.
Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.
Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you." (Mt 5.3-12)
