David Gergen-Shrub HAS TO WIN tonight!
Last three campaigns where the challenger was shown to win, the incumbent has lost!

If shrub looses tonight, it's going to be almost impossible for him to win. Must win the national debate, not just his base!

Kerry must continue the poise, and make his emotional connection with the voters. MOST IMPORTANT THING! Remember the women John!

2. So Kerry reversed the trend and even went 8 points up
with women since the debates and never pandered to them. Now, Gergen thinks he should start to pander? He needs to speak to the issues that most effect women, but I don't think he needs to go all Dr. Philish on them.

5. Kerry in the last debate sealed everything a woman needs to know.
He puts women before a fetus, he cares about equal pay for women, he is for assisting single women with children from deadbeat fathers, what else is there? He is completely women supportive. Now on the opposite side of that coin, you've got AWOL who hides behind women and children to get votes, he supports oppression and risking a womens health to save a fetus first, even if the fetus doesn't survive. Got it folks?

Kerry=love of women
Bush=hate of women

7. which means
short of a full scale implosion, the media will immediately spin this debate as a "win" for bush, whether it is or not.

8. probably too late for these suggestions... but what the heck
I know that Kerry can't speak to bush* directly, but he can throw this out to the moderator

"I, and I'm sure the hard working people of America, would really like to hear how outsourcing jobs is good for America..."

when bush* starts whining about how he inherited the economy and 9-11 -- Kerry should say "there he goes again blaming everyone else. When Bill Clinton stepped into the white house he 'inherited' a bad economy -- but did he wring his hands for 4 years and whine about it? No, he took steps to get the American economy back on track. He inherited record deficits (it was a record at that time) -- did he wring his hands and blame someone else? No, he took steps to bring the deficts down and balance the budget. How long will President bush continue to blame someone else? It's time we had someone in the White House that recognizes problems and takes action to solve them."

9. Gergen is a Republican who's not afraid of the truth.
He usually gives good analysis. A rare Republican who's not afraid to veer from the talking points.

11. A "draw" is the best Shrub can do at this point - and I only concede that
Edited on Wed Oct-13-04 03:08 PM by yellowcanine
it is a "draw" if partisans on both sides say their guy won and the "undecideds" split or say it is a draw. If a plurality of the "undecideds" say Kerry won, then Bush has lost once again and he has gone 0 for 3. Or, 3 strikes and youuuuuurrrrreeee ouuuut!!!!

14. Bush Doesn't Do Well Under Pressure
and if he plays Angry George again, it will cement that negative perception. They'll have to notice it this time.
