Just met 3 military members in Hawaii
My husband and I just spent a lovely week in Hawaii. While at a Luau at the Polynesian Culture Center, we started talking to a few of the people at our table. Remember, this is a huge place with dozens of tables, and hundreds of people.
A young man was sitting across from us with his 3 year old daughter, his wife and his mother. He had just come from Iraq and was on leave, getting ready to go back in 2 weeks. As we talked I came straight out and asked who he was going to vote for. He dislikes *idiot* so much he actually said he'd vote for me if I was running. His daughter freaked out when he left the table to smoke, because of his absences. His mother also will not vote for Chimp. A young woman was sitting next to me and listening in. She told us her husband was in Afghanistan, adn she was also in the army, stationed in Hawaii. Guess who she also would not be voting for? Visiting her was her friend, in the military in Florida and her husband, married 2 years. They feel the same way. All 3 were not of American nationality by the way, although the first was in the process of being nationalized. I don't think she'll have time to be able to vote, but the point is, they were 3 different military families from different divisions/states, and with members stationed in both Iraq and Afghanistan, all with the same point of view and political beliefs. I told them about this site, and hopefully they have joined. All at 1 table. I think that Kerry will be our next president, and the worm will be kicked out on his ass.

1. Thanks for the report.
It's heartening to hear from 'real people'. Polls are all well and good - but to me, it's the anectotal stories like this that better reflect reality.

3. That's a Lovely Report...and how exciting to be
in Hawaii and talked to these poor People who have to kill or be killed under the "war president". From all these reports on Soldiers who aren't voting for bush and knowing there are some who will..I would imagine there are some heated divisions in the ranks.

That's my idea of excitement now..talking politics to People who get it!

I talked to someone in my yoga class tonight who sounded more enthused than I've been about the election and that's sayin' somthing..she handed me some Kerry/Edwards stickers to pass out to my friends..it's usually me whose doing the handing out! LOL!

4. Great story. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Every time I hear stories like this, I wonder again just how close this election really is.
