Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc. Lowers Q3 Broadcast Revenue Outlook
2004 Oct 4 1:05 PM

Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc. lowered its net broadcast revenue estimate for the third quarter, citing weakness primarily in auto advertising spending and cancellations resulting from the recent hurricanes which impacted eight of the Company's television stations in the Southeast. The Company now expects net broadcast revenue of approximately $163.7 million in the third quarter. Initial guidance was for third quarter net broadcast revenues to be up 4% to 5% from third quarter 2003 net broadcast revenues of $161.3 million. According to Reuters Estimates, analysts on average are expecting the Company to report third quarter total revenues of $184 million.

Just ten months ago this stock was at $15 plus, it's now under $8. I really doubt their stock holders would want this company taking such political risks right now?

I'd advise checking out any mutual funds you have (retirement accounts etc.) and making sure you sell any stock in Sinclair Broadcasting should they go through with their intentions. My guess is they are testing the water right now? ;)

Contact their investor relations department with any and all concerns you may have about your stock.

stockholders if they go forward with this. Whoever is making the decisions there doesn't have the business in mind. The "Nightline" fiasco was disrespectful and nasty in a number of ways, but this mandate for the stations to show an anti-Kerry film a week or so before the election is a disaster on a whole new level. Why alienate half of your audience? (Or in some markets, probably more like two thirds or more.)

I wonder if Sinclair Broadcasting Group will get the same amount of scrutiny that CBS News recently received. (Hah, fat chance.) After all, SBG is calling "Stolen Honor" news content.
