Some people say they're not voting for Kerry because he's too smart
That the C student scrub is more like regular people. My question to them is, "The President of the US is probably the most important position in the world and you don't want to pick someone because they're too smart???? I suppose if you needed brain surgery you'd pick the more folksy C doctor and not the brilliant, accomplished A doctor, too."

3. The people who would rather have a President
Edited on Sat Oct-09-04 09:31 AM by rpannier
who would be fun at a BBQ. They think Kerry acts too smart and that scrub is more folksy. That the C student scrub is more fun than Kerry.
I saw a woman on CNN-Asia, who lives overseas, who said "Kerry thinks because he's so smart he's better than everyone else. scrub is more like real people."

4. Wow!!!!!! That's the dumbest thing
I've heard yet! Let's face it. There are many beings meandering about this planet that really should stay home and quit bothering those of us with brains. When they do stay home, though, they have the idiot box that programs them with soundbites.

Do we live in a Catch 22 world or what?????

these people can't admit that they're idiots, so we get a popularity contest instead of a presidential election.

8. The Ignoramus' who say things like this
belie their own side's talking points. Don't Rush Limpdick and Neal Bootzy demonize inner city people for viewing educated blacks as "trying to be white?" Don't they constantly claim intellectual superiority over anyone who disagrees with them?

They don't want an intelligent president because they don't want to feel "too white" either, i suppose.

10. This is not a small problem
Remember Adlai Stevenson? He lost because people thought he was too much of an egghead.

During his 1956 presidential campaign, a woman called out to him, "You have the vote of every thinking person!" Stevenson called back, "That's not enough, madam, we need a majority!"

15. But when Stevenson lost
we ended up with Eisenhower, who wasn't so bad. If we lose this time, we'll end up with Bush again, and who would you rather have, Eisenhower or Shrubya?

Thinking people are more a minority now than ever!

11. I wouldn't worry about people who say stuff like that
Edited on Sat Oct-09-04 10:38 AM by William Seger
I think people who say dumb things like that must be really, really stretching to find a rationalization for supporting Bush, but they just don't have much to work with. They'd go for Bush, regardless. If Kerry really came across as arrogant and demeaning, that would be a problem, but he simply does not do that. In fact, Kerry treats his audience with far more respect than Bush, and I do believe that will be a key factor with people who are genuinely looking for reasons to vote for one or the other. Like a good prosecutor, Kerry seems to appreciate that he needs make his case. Bush, on the other hand, treats people like idiots -- not a good strategy for someone who is obviously possessed with very ordinary intelligence. He just blurts out assertions and then stands there like he can't believe people aren't giving him a standing ovation simply for saying it.

13. I can understand that!
I personally prefer a raving, dictatorial, paranoid, psychopathic moron in charge of the world rather than a lucid, intelligent, quick-witted professional. After all, what am I- stupid or something?

Pretty obvious if you were to axe me, and I know my opinion is highly valued here....
