Winning the Spin War e-mail list
October 8 2004 | jbwbubba

Posted on 10/08/2004 11:03:49 AM PDT by jbwbubba

Ladies and Gentlemen, we have lost the last two post debate spins, and it is showing in the polls. Bush went from a slight loss to Kerry on points last Thursday night to a big loss on Friday night and Cheney went from a big win Tuesday night to a draw by Wednesday night. I know the dems are going to spam the post-debate polls and even use bots to cripple them. But we can send e-mails to newsoutlets and let our views be heard. Below are several e-mail address are links to post comments for national news outlets TV and Paper. I would also urge everyone to send e-mails to your local and state papers. You don't have to send any grand letters, but just a 3-4 sentences that say you like and trust Bush and Kerry is a flip flopper and liar. We won't have Rush, Sean or others on the weekend, your few sentences could make a big difference. Why not practice before tonight and send out some e-mails regarding the WMD report. I know this is a vanity but, I hope the addresses stay, I think it is important.

Forget it. The Dems have set up bots to respond to polls. After the Cheney/Edwards debate I went out looking for polls and they were already 75,000 for Edwards and 2000 for Cheney two minutes after the poll went live.

It has become a stupid game. A game that doesn't mean anything.

The post-debate polls mean little if anything at all. No matter what those padded poll results say, the MSM are going to spin the s**t out of the debate results.

The heads of the debate commission just said on Fox News that they're using the same screening process for tonight's debate as they used in 1992 and 1996. Gallup has sampled to identify undecided voters as well as "soft" Kerry and Bush voters.

For the life of me i do not understand why the Bush team agreed to the debate formats the way they are. Both of the debate moderators for the first 2 debates had a liberal bias(though not quite as bad as many freepers seem to think). And now bush is going into a forum thats ripe for leftwing party-crashing. I just don't get it.

What is bad is the DemocRats understand the process and warned people in that area how to answer questions so they would be chosen as swing voters. Expect some Haliburton BS along with some 1000 dead American speil and some worst employment record since Hoover spin. There will be at least one 'Swing Voter' who resembles Micheal Moore.

Bad news. We'll probably see the same biased questions that we did in the '92 and '96 debates.
Biased questions are an opportunity to set the record straight. They are only bad news if you can not properly address them (but understood, some of these people may be so "out there" not even 90 seconds will be enough time to bring them back to earth).

DNC Source: Rumor that Radicals Have Penetrated Town Hall Debate
http://www.crushkerry.com/article295.html ^

Posted on 10/08/2004 8:07:56 AM PDT by Dustoff

In a not-too-surprising development, Democrats and their allies in the more radical elements of political activism believe they have penetrated the town hall forum and will be represented in the audience of so-called “swing voters” at tonight’s debate.

According to the Gallop organization, who was responsible for selecting the voters in tonight’s debate audience, the participants may have opinions about the candidates. They may be leaning to one candidate or the other. But they must also have told a Gallup representative that they might still vote for the other guy. The participants were chosen at random through phone interviews conducted by Gallop.

But what about people who lie? According to one source inside the Democrat National Committee, rumors are circulating around Washington, DC that certain liberal groups prepared all of their St. Louis members to exaggerate and even lie in their phone interviews, if they happened to have been contacted by Gallup, in order to get into the town hall as an audience member. These same organizations are privately signaling to the Democrat National Committee that they succeeded in getting some of their members into the forum disguised as “swing voters.” It’s important to note our source did not know which liberal interest groups orchestrated the effort to infiltrate the town hall format, but believes their were several groups working together.

“I don’t know. All I can tell you is that the rumor around here is all about how we successfully got some people in the audience,” our source said.

But the questions are pre-scripted by the moderator and audience members will not know who gets to ask them until the last minute.

“My understanding is that they have been instructed to ask their own questions, regardless of what the moderator tells them to ask,” our source, who demanded to remain nameless, stated.

Not every “swing voter” will be allowed to ask a question. What if none of the spies are invited to speak up?

“I don’t know. You may see a demonstration of some kind. You may hear boos or jeers or spontaneous enthusiasm for Senator Kerry. I have no idea what these people have up their sleeve. But they will be on TV tonight.”

It is our understanding that Charlie Gibson, the moderator for tonight's debate is not supposed to allow any questions that deviate from the "script", and if they do, he is supposed to mention that and move on. However, forgive us if we don't think this is fail-safe.

Again, please note that our source doesn't know for sure this is going to happen, but this is the rumor floating around DNC HQ We actually hope it's true, so that the country can see the real face of the Democratic party, and John Kerry's soul mates.

Members of radical groups have had success fooling the Old Media in recent weeks, pawning themselves off as interested but undecided voters. National Public Radio recently presented a donor to John Kerry’s campaign for president as a “swing voter.” And in past the Washington Post has strained the definition of “swing voters” by using unemployed African-Americans, teachers union members, and young, single urban woman in focus groups. These characters comprise a veritable Kerry coalition right out of Central Casting.

This liberal coup comes on the heels of a week of terror by radicals who have bullied, intimidated, violated and even shot at Republicans across the country in an obviously orchestrated effort.

And now they have a voice among the, ahem, undecided in tonight’s town hall debate, which is looking more and more like a show trial, with President George W. Bush on the stand.

“This should be fun,” our source giggled triumphantly.

Well, yes and no. Yes, this proves that bush's support is far deeper and firmer, and can survive a lot of bad news as compared to Kerry.
But no, enough bad news can still win this for Kerry. The markets now think kerry has about a 41% chance of winning. That's outside my comfort zone.

If you had to choose, you would choose Bush's side of the chessboard for sure, but this race will be tight. Talk a few weeks back about a bush electoral landslide were definitely premature, this race still has a lot of play left. Now is the time to work harder than ever.

At 2000 Town Hall Debate, Questions Leaned Liberal
CNSNEWS.com ^ | 10/08/04 | Robert B. Bluey

Posted on 10/08/2004 2:17:54 AM PDT by kattracks

St. Louis (CNSNews.com) - The people asking questioners at Friday night's town hall debate are not supposed to show a strong preference for President Bush or Sen. John Kerry. But after liberal questions dominated the same type of debate in 2000, a conservative media watchdog warned the same might be true again.

ABC's Charles Gibson, host of "Good Morning America," was chosen to moderate the second presidential debate at Washington University in St. Louis. As moderator, Gibson won't get to ask any questions, but he will decide what questions the audience asks.

In 2000, when Bush debated Democrat Al Gore, Jim Lehrer of the PBS program "NewsHour" played the same role. But as the conservative Media Research Center noted Thursday, most of those questions had a liberal slant. The MRC, parent of CNSNews.com , also criticized some of Gibson's liberal policy positions.

The so-called "uncommitted" voters chosen by the Gallup Organization to be featured in tonight's debate have either a slight preference toward Bush or Kerry, but according to the debate rules, Gibson must choose an equal number of questions from each side.

Questions from the 2000 town hall debate included topics such as nationalized health care, gun control and affirmative action. In a report following that debate, the MRC's Tim Graham concluded that eight of the 15 questions leaned left. Here is a sampling:

* "Would you be open to the idea of a national health care plan for everybody? And if not, why? If so, is it something you would try to implement if you're elected into office? And what would you do implement this plan?"

* "We'd like to know why you object to the Brady handgun bill, if you do object to it. Because in a recent TV ad, it showed that the National Rifle Association says if you are elected that they will be working out of your office.... actually that kind of bothers me, you know, when I see that ad like that. I wonder if you could explain that ad to me?"

* "How will your administration address diversity, inclusiveness? And what role will affirmative action play in your overall plan?"

But not all political observers agreed with the assessments that Bush had it tougher than Gore in 2000.

"The bias is in the eye of the beholder," said Robert Salisbury, a professor emeritus at Washington University, whose school has hosted the past two town hall debates.

Even conservative professor Richard J. Hardy, who teaches politics at the University of Missouri, said Gallup probably did its best when choosing among the "uncommitted" voters. He said he could only hope the questions would be balanced.

As an incumbent, Bush might even be at a bigger disadvantage now compared to four years ago, said Marvin L. Overby, a University of Missouri politics professor. He noted Bush's preference to interact with friendly audiences at campaign events and avoid formal press conferences.

"The president may not be as adept at this as he was four years ago," Overby said. "He may have lost some of that ability to take a hostile question, turn on the charm and turn the question around and lead the questioner to see things your way."

----------------------------------------------------------------------
President Bush is going to be facing an audience packed with Democrats and liberal-leaning Indies. He has to more than battle to a draw tonight.

No doubt the questions will be on the leftist bent, given the "moderator" is a Democrat Party shill.
IMHO, this will be easily picked up by the TV viewers.

Too far to the left and those of us on the right will be further energized, (can that be possible?) and the "undecideds (you have heard of those morons haven't you?) may think this is a set up, resulting in a back lash of "undecideds" for GWB.

Bogus Debate E-Mails Attempt To Dupe Media

Bogus Debate E-Mails Attempt To Dupe Media Messages Arrive At Station Before Debate Starts

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- As Election Day draws near, some are using every avenue possible, including trying to manipulate the media, to gain voters and dissuade others from showing up to vote, NBC 4's Duarte Geraldino reported.

An organized e-mail campaign was created in an attempt to influence NBC 4's post-debate coverage of Tuesday night's vice-presidential debate between Vice President Dick Cheney and Sen. John Edwards.

The debate had not even begun when NBC 4 started receiving e-mails at 4:50 p.m. Tuesday from "viewers" who claimed to not only have watched the debate, but also declared a winner.

The e-mails all listed names and home addresses, but when NBC 4 attempted to find a telephone number for the "viewers" -- Gerry Kline and Milo Jones -- the station had no luck.

Telephone operators were of no help, so a drive to the addresses listed on the e-mails was necessary. The address for "Milo Jones" was on North Main Street, but Main Street in downtown Columbus only goes east and west. There also was no 47 Main Street going east or west, Geraldino reported.

The other e-mail from "Gerry Kline" had a Stringtown Road address from Grove City. Addresses on Stringtown Road end in the 2500s, meaning the address the person who sent the e-mail gave doesn't exist.

Political scientist Dean Lacy has a theory on what the real authors of the e-mails had in mind.

"One person, assuming a lot of different names, can make it look like an entire town was backing one candidate over the other," Lacy said. "Voters don't usually jump on the bandwagon and say, 'I am going to support this candidate because I think he is winning,' but they might. They might think, 'If my candidate can't win, there is no point in turning out.' "

Experts say the best advice for voters is to cast a ballot for the candidate that best represents their interests and to not let pre-election polls or other voters influence your vote.

Yep as I've been saying all along. Now how do we on the right combat, mobilize and organize against this?

Dear xxxx,

What a difference a week makes -- last Tuesday some pundits were predicting the end of our campaign. As you all know, reports of our demise have been greatly exaggerated. Last Thursday, John Kerry took the stage and did his job. He looked presidential and he scored a decisive victory against George Bush. The momentum has shifted -- in nearly every public poll taken since the debate, we now are leading or tied.

In a tight race, things change very quickly -- this is why it is so important that we react to everything. Become part of my rapid response team and join the Kerry-Edwards Media Corps today.

Election Day is just four weeks away. During the close of this campaign, we will not let a single charge go unanswered and we will stay on the offensive. The Kerry-Edwards Media Corps is a vital part of this rapid response network. Tens of thousands of you have already joined and are making a difference.

Last Thursday in Miami, I saw firsthand how hard the Bush campaign tried to spin the debate. They were searching for any angle. Our campaign, with your help, made sure the truth got out.

Tonight, in Cleveland, John Edwards will face Dick Cheney in the vice presidential debate. Cheney is a superb debater and he has the format and rules that he wanted. However, he has to try and defend a record of failure. Bush and Cheney may have a failed administration, but they have an experienced campaign that will again try hard to spin the debate. I am here in Cleveland right now to make sure that doesn't happen, but again I need your help.

http://johnkerry.com/response

After the debate is finished I will send all of you an important e-mail that highlights some of the key moments. If you can contribute a little bit of time, creativity and energy, we'll supply you with all the information you need to become a member of our online communications team.

Thank you,

Joe Lockhart
Senior Advisor

P.S.
Again, look for an e-mail from me after tonight's debate.

."..the best advice for voters is to cast a ballot for the candidate that best represents their interests and to not let pre-election polls or other voters influence your vote."

Hopefully, most people will vote this way.

But I do think efforts at FR and other conservative groups are affecting the MSM and also the sleeping citizens. So you are right....we need to keep thinking of ways to combat the lies and distortion.

considering the contents of the debate-related DNC action-alert someone posted here the day of the debate, I think we can safely assume that all such pre-debate e-mails came from folks on the DNC email pinglist.

My own words. Remember I reported in a thread here last debate that Freepers were sending out emails before the debate. Chances are they will be doing it again.

Vote in Online Debate Polls tonight!!!

The Democrats are dominating the online polls (post debate) as to who wins these debates.. They are using a coordinated effort...Let's counter that...vote at www.foxnews.com www.msnbc.com & www.msnbc.com right after the debate 2nite!

sorry meant to add. www.cnn.com

It is difficult to believe any polls nowadays...especially the ones sponsored by the socialist MSM. I take it with a grain of salt.

Only one poll really counts...the evening of Nov. 2nd. I will still cast my votes after the debate. I hope Bush got a BIG FIRE built under his rear by his staff to go right after Kerry's throat...we shall see.

I agree Nov 2 is the only one that matters but the cable news networks are citing these online polls...can't hurt to vote..i mean after the VP debate within 10 minutes 70% of the people said Edwards won.. I would just like to counter that...Get the Big Mo going W's way!!!

At most other times I would agree with you and freep the poll. This time, with the letters and e-mails coming from the DNC, let the Rats have it. Let them skew the polls until they look like fools. Don't play the game to help give it the look of legitimacy.

If you're going to spend time voting in online polls, the best strategy is to vote for Kerry. The idea--and I think it's a good one--is to make the polls so ridiculously lopsided that no one will believe them. I saw one that had Edwards winning by 98 to 2 over Cheney. LOL! You don't have to wait either, the sooner those polls are pounded on the more ridiculous they'll be!

I'm with you! Best strategy for a complete waste of time is to make 'em all look like a Castro presidential or Carter-certified election! 99-1! (or (100-0!)

The poll on this site has Cheney winning by over 90% is that too lopsided?
It is lopsided, but not ridiculously lopsided. Among Free Republic participants it's reasonable to expect that 90% would say that Cheney won the debate.

18. this is good for a giggle
You don't have to send any grand letters, but just a 3-4 sentences that say you like and trust Bush and Kerry is a flip flopper and liar.

Like a freeptard could even BEGIN to send out 'grand' letters...omigod!

Can't you see the emails flying tonight, sheer ignorance based on an idiotic talking point: "I like and trust Bush and Kerry is a flip flopper and liar." Brilliant stuff! That'll knock the media back on their asses!

20. "Kerry gets angry and attacks the person who asks a tough question." ?????
"Look at it this way. While Bush may struggle to answer a tough question, Kerry gets angry and attacks the person who asks a tough question."

Say what now? When? When has he done this? And when has he done ths often enough that it's become his commonly known pattern of behavior?

Have these people ever WATCHED Kerry answer questions from the audience? Or are they just so used to watch Bush answer questions from his legions, that they don't know what anything else looks like?

34. Admins, I suggest you put these email addresses in a sticky
Along with instructions for DUers to write to them after the debate. Make sure to put the addresses in the Bcc: field so that it won't look to the recipient like a mass mailing. Also, someone needs to keep an eye on the America-haters and harvest other addresses from their board, because sure as hell they're doing it to us.

We can't let up, even if they say that we're annoying them, because it is their ethical responsibility -- and they chose that themselves, it wasn't forced on them -- to report the facts, and the facts are that a large and growing number of dedicated people are committed to electing John Kerry, because he will be a strong President, much more so than the small fraction of a man that Bush* is.

WTF? As if they are so delusional that the thought NEVER occurred to them that there are thousands and thousands of actual human beings who are fed up to here with their Spineless Leader? For cryin' out loud....It must just be killing them to know that no matter how hard they try, no matter how they try to spin it, no matter what dirty tricks they employ, the hard, cold, fact of the matter is that they are outnumbered. Poor, ignorant bastards.
