Can a AGM-86C/D Cruise Missile be mistaken for an airplane?
I've been hunting around and found this http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/smart/agm-86c.htm where it says they are 20 feet long, is there anyway that someone would think it was a regular airplane?

Thanks

3. If the plane was traveling 500MPH and on a ground plane at final
approach, what could anyone see? It's not like all of these witnesses were in a grandstand waiting for the plane to come hurtling past them. The plane, at this speed, is travel 9 miles a minute, or 800 feet per second. Everyone is listening to the radio or talking to their friends about the WTC. Who is watching the Pentagon at the moment it strikes? Who really would know what they saw....would the object even register on the brain?

9. Could you recognize a car going 50 miles per hour?
A jetliner is roughly, call it 10 times the length of the average car. So if you were close to a jetliner going 500 miles an hour, you'd get about as much time close to it as if a car driving 50 went past you. Does that mean you can't identify the car as a car? Could the car have been a missile? It was going so fast, who are you to say what you did or didn't see?

The scales are not remotely comporable between a plane and any sort of cruise missile except for some Russian anti-carrier missiles compared to Lear Jets

7. Not really.
They may be 20 feet long, but they're only a couple of feet wide, and even moving at 500 miles an hour there's no way it would be mistaken for a 160 foot long plane with a 150 foot wingspan. A missile has a very distinct visual signature, and it takes no special knowledge to distinguish it from an airplane.

8. Do you mind if I ask a side question: ABOUT SOUND
I noticed that a lot of the "eyewitness" reports are actually people who report hearing an airplane. Would the sound of a missile whizzing over your head sound like an airplane flying by?
