The Penn State parallel
High ranking Penn State officials have been fired or forced to resign for failing to properly notify law enforcement about Sandusky's conduct.

With 9/11 several intelligence agents knew about al Qaeda operatives inside the US yet failed to properly notify FBI criminal agents. None of the agents involved in the withholding were penalized. None of their supervisors were forced to resign. To date no investigative body has explained what happened. One would think there would be as much if not more public demand for these agents and supervisors to explain why nobody did the right thing. Instead for years we have had nothing but pathetic excuses.

2. What did the intelligence agents who obstructed the investigations
think would happen? Their conduct is as bizarre as the Penn State officials. In both scenarios we see a bizarre lack of regard for the consequences of doing nothing.

5. Look at the contrast between intelligence agents and the public

Iris Anderson, passenger on UA Flight 176 (9/8/01, LA to Boston) who saw several hijackers evidently on a test run:

"It feels to me like yesterday," Anderson said in an interview with The Herald Journal just a month before the 9/11 anniversary. "It'll always be with me; what hit me ... was a feeling of remorse and guilt that I didn't stop them - I think that was part of my hysteria. Why couldn't I have known on the plane what they were going to do?"

Logan summer citizen believes she was on terrorists' 'test run' flight

Portland Jetport ticket agent Michael Touhey who checked in Atta and al-Omari:

Tuohey, who was interviewed by the FBI as the nation's air traffic system ground to a halt, has relived his brief encounter with the terrorists ''a million times, '' wondering whether there was anything he could have done to avert the attacks.

''Your rational mind is telling you one thing, but your what-if mind is pulling you in another direction, '' he said.

After his retirement in 2004, he started having hallucinations and pangs of guilt that caused him to become isolated and withdrawn.

Encounter haunts ex-ticket agent

Why haven't journalists asked CIA and FBI agents why they failed to respond to an obvious threat situation? Unlike Anderson and Touhey, they were in a position to do something.
