Mayan Documentary Will Show Evidence of Alien Contact, Says Mexico (Exclusive)
Source: Reuters

EXCLUSIVE

A new documentary about Mayan civilization will provide evidence of extraterrestrial contact with the ancient culture, according to a Mexican government official and the film's producer.

"Revelations of the Mayans 2012 and Beyond," currently in production, will claim the Mayans had contact with extraterrestrials, producer Raul Julia-Levy revealed to TheWrap.

"Mexico will release codices, artifacts and significant documents with evidence of Mayan and extraterrestrial contact, and all of their information will be corroborated by archaeologists," said Julia-Levy, son of actor Raul Julia.

In a release to TheWrap, Luis Augusto Garcia Rosado, the minister of tourism for the Mexican state of Campeche, said new evidence has emerged "of contact between the Mayans and extraterrestrials, supported by translations of certain codices, which the government has kept secure in underground vaults for some time."

21. That is not what is being asserted here

Extraterrestrial aliens visited the Maya as an apparent cosmic practical joke to impress them before the Spanish showed up.

Is that what you believe?

12. Why not?
Edited on Sat Oct-29-11 07:06 PM by Akoto
The visceral sort of mockery and ridicule this subject receives always puzzles me. Honestly, why not?

When you consider the length of time our universe has existed, we are but an infant species. Why is it a rule that no other species far more advanced than ours can exist? Why can't they travel through space when young humans thought of it? Why can't they have better methods if they're far older? If we can imagine searching the galaxy for other forms of life, why can't they?

Are the odds high that we've had visitors? Certainly not, but I don't just brush it off as a matter of habit. I'm interested to see what they have, and then I'll form an opinion.

23. Okay, and what will you do after you've formed an opinion?

Let's say that you see this movie and are not persuaded that ancient aliens visited Central America?

Will you thenceforth refrain from expressing your opinion?

Some folks have apparently already formed one.

16. Wow...the PTB really are getting desperate.
I'm convinced this is an attempt to distract attention from OWS by focusing on the brightest, shiniest distraction in the world, or out of it...aliens and UFOs!

This is why I think so: A few weeks ago,, when OWS was first starting to go viral and more and more cities were being occupied, I was on YouTube looking for new OWS-related videos. I believe I had clicked on one and watched it, and as is normal for YouTube, the screen showed me about 8-10 thumbnails of related videos they thought I might want to watch after the selected video was over. Only the videos they suggested weren't all related to OWS. At least HALF of the thumbnails were related to UFOs, and I had not been watching a UFO video! This happened about 3-4 times over a couple of days.

Anyone else have this experience with YouTube?

30. Exactly! "Mexico aims to make end of Maya calendar a starter for tourism"
I don't begrudge them their tourist dollars, but you've pegged this one on the head.

<snip>

But in Mexico, where drug violence has hobbled the nation's $70-billion tourism industry, government leaders hope to counter Tinseltown's doomsday scenario by promoting 2012 as the year of the tourist.

Several of Mexico's top tourism officials have been making the rounds in their northern neighbor, betting that an invitation to see Maya ruins will attract hordes of older, wealthier U.S. visitors keen on Mexican culture.

Whereas the Hollywood blockbuster "2012" depicts the end of the Maya calendar as the spark of a global calamity, the Mexican campaign will include a countdown to the calendar's conclusion and urge tourists to visit archaeological sites in the states of Campeche, Chiapas, Yucatan, Quintana Roo and Tabasco.

<snip>

Fernando Ortega Bernes, governor of the southeastern state of Campeche, said he expects the campaign to promote not only Maya ruins in his state, including the ancient city of Calakmul, but also other popular attractions such as hunting, fishing and bird watching.

"This is an opportunity," he said, "to Campeche in the international marketplace."

This is all apart of their 2012 tourism campaign. The fact that this is being pushed by the Campeche minister of tourism was kind of a tip off. :D
