Interesting article on 9/11 report

Here's one to read, because it names names of a number of the hijackers' assistants that were kept nameless in the 9/11 report that just came out. I'd like to hear more especially about this imam, for instance, and what the gvmt has done about him if anything.

Also mentioned in the report was an unnamed Muslim cleric who became a spiritual adviser to Alhazmi and al-Midhar. Anwar Al-Awlaki is the former leader of the Masjid Ar-Ribat al-Islami mosque on Saranac Street on the border of San Diego and La Mesa, which was attended regularly by the hijackers and their acquaintances.

The FBI opened a counterterrorism inquiry into imam Anwar Al-Awlaki's activities in June 1999. When the imam moved to one of the largest Muslim communities in the country at the Dar Al-Hijrah mosque in Falls Church, Va., Alhazmi and hijacker Hani Hanjour followed and began attending that mosque, the report said.

this san diego paper has had a lot of good info, and this writer especially, if i recall. local papers where the hijackers lived are clearly a good source of info.

you should tell her about the timeline.

So what do we have here?

In the summer of 2000 some chap in San Diego while chatting to an FBI agent happened to mention the names of a couple of "good Muslim Saudi youths" he was host to.

What a rat!

Now that should have tipped off the law enforcers immediately to an intention to fly planes into buildings a year later, shouldn't it? How ever could they possibly have failed to miss the chance?

The unfortunate Abdussattar Shaikh says "they never discussed other Muslims or Muslim extremism, and that he never reported suspicious activity" and to the best of my knowledge nothing has yet arisen to gain say that.
