I just want to know the TRUTH why this has happened
Edited on Sat Feb-24-07 01:11 PM by seemslikeadream
Why we are now going to be at WAR for the rest of our lives.

I want to be able to read EVERYTHING and decide for myself. I have that right. I detest censorship, bullies and snarky comments.

2506 "I'm waiting to hear the words 'I was wrong' Dick Morris, 4/9/03

"Tommy Franks and the coalition forces have demonstrated the old axiom
that boldness on the battlefield produces swift and relatively
bloodless victory. The three-week swing through Iraq has utterly
shattered skeptics' complaints." (Fox News Channel's Tony Snow,
4/27/03)

"The only people who think this wasn't a victory are Upper Westside
liberals, and a few people here in Washington." (Charles Krauthammer,
Inside Washington, WUSA-TV, 4/19/03)

"I will bet you the best dinner in the gaslight district of San Diego
that military action will not last more than a week. Are you willing to
take that wager?" (Fox News Channel's Bill O'Reilly, 1/29/03)

"What's he going to talk about a year from now, the fact that the war
went too well and it's over? I mean, don't these things sort of lose
their--Isn't there a fresh date on some of these debate points?"
(MSNBC's Chris Matthews, speaking about Howard Dean--4/9/03)

"It is amazing how thorough the victory in Iraq really was in the
broadest context..... And the silence, I think, is that it's clear that
nobody can do anything about it. There isn't anybody who can stop him.
The Democrats can't oppose--cannot oppose him politically."
(Washington Post reporter Jeff Birnbaum-- Fox News Channel, 5/2/03)

"Now that the war in Iraq is all but over, should the people in
Hollywood who opposed the president admit they were wrong?"
(Fox News Channel's Alan Colmes, 4/25/03)

"I'm waiting to hear the words 'I was wrong' from some of the world's
most elite journalists, politicians and Hollywood types.... I just
wonder, who's going to be the first elitist to show the character to
say: 'Hey, America, guess what? I was wrong'? Maybe the White House
will get an apology, first, from the New York Times' Maureen Dowd. Now,
Ms. Dowd mocked the morality of this war....

"Do you all remember Scott Ritter, you know, the former chief U.N.
weapons inspector who played chief stooge for Saddam Hussein? Well, Mr.
Ritter actually told a French radio network that -- quote, "The United
States is going to leave Baghdad with its tail between its legs,
defeated." Sorry, Scott. I think you've been chasing the wrong tail,
again.

"Over the next couple of weeks when we find the chemical weapons this
guy was amassing, the fact that this war was attacked by the left and
so the right was so vindicated, I think, really means that the left is
going to have to hang its head for three or four more years."
(Fox News Channel's Dick Morris, 4/9/03)

"This has been a tough war for commentators on the American left. To
hope for defeat meant cheering for Saddam Hussein. To hope for victory
meant cheering for President Bush. The toppling of Mr. Hussein, or at
least a statue of him, has made their arguments even harder to defend.
Liberal writers for ideologically driven magazines like The Nation and
for less overtly political ones like The New Yorker did not predict a
defeat, but the terrible consequences many warned of have not happened.
Now liberal commentators must address the victory at hand and confront
an ascendant conservative juggernaut that asserts United States might
can set the world right."
(New York Times reporter David Carr, 4/16/03)

"Well, the hot story of the week is victory.... The Tommy Franks-Don
Rumsfeld battle plan, war plan, worked brilliantly, a three-week war
with mercifully few American deaths or Iraqi civilian deaths.... There
is a lot of work yet to do, but all the naysayers have been humiliated
so far.... The final word on this is, hooray."
(Fox News Channel's Morton Kondracke, 4/12/03)

"Shouldn't the prime minister and all of us who thought the
war was hasty and dangerous and wrongheaded admit that we were wrong? I
mean, with the pictures of those Iraqis dancing in the streets, hauling
down statues of Saddam Hussein and gushing their thanks to the
Americans, isn't it clear that President Bush and Britain's Tony Blair
were right all along? If we believe it's a good thing that Hussein's
regime has been dismantled, aren't we hypocritical not to acknowledge
Bush's superior judgment?... Why can't those of us who thought the war
was a bad idea (or, at any rate, a premature one) let it go now and
just join in celebrating the victory wrought by our magnificent
military forces?"
(Washington Post's William Raspberry, 4/14/03)

"This will be no war -- there will be a fairly brief and ruthless
military intervention.... The president will give an order. attack] will be rapid, accurate and dazzling.... It will be greeted by
the majority of the Iraqi people as an emancipation. And I say, bring
it on."
(Christopher Hitchens, in a 1/28/03 debate-- cited in the Observer,
3/30/03)

"Speaking to the U.N. Security Council last week, Secretary of State
Colin Powell made so strong a case that Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein
is in material breach of U.N. resolutions that only the duped, the dumb
and the desperate could ignore it."
(Cal Thomas, syndicated column, 2/12/03)

Until the philosophy,
Which holds one race superior
And another inferior,
Is finally and permanently
Discredited and abandoned,
Everywhere is war.

WAR

Until there is no longer first class
Or second class citizens of any nation.
Until the color of a man's skin,
Is of no more significance than
The color of his eyes,
I've got to say "war".

WAR

That until the basic human rights,
Are equally guaranteed to all,
Without regard to race,
I'll say "war"

Until that day the dream of lasting peace,
World-citizenship and the rule of
International morality will remain
Just a fleeting illusion to be pursued,
But never obtained.
And everywhere is war.

Until the ignoble and unhappy regime
Which holds all of us through,
Child-abuse, yeah, child-abuse yeah,
Sub-human bondage has been toppled,
Utterly destroyed,
Everywhere is war.

War in the east,
War in the west,
War up north,
War down south,
There is war,
And the rumors of war.

Until that day,
the african continent will know no peace
There is no continent,
Which will know peace.

Children, children.

Fight!

We find it necessary.
We know we will win.
We have confidence in the victory
Of good over evil
Of good over evil

Fight the real enemy!

Bob Marley

They Were Injured And Died In Our Name
February 28th, 2007 · 30 Comments
Imus responded to the Bob Woodruff report that aired on ABC last night. Mr. Imus seems frustrated at what to do. In his words we are faced with a Secretary of the Veterans Administration who says there are less than 600 amputees. In trying to dismiss Mr. Woodruff’s figures on the number of Veteran’s seeking treatment conflicting with the DOD numbers. Secretary Nicholson says many Iraq Vets seek treatment from the VA for “dental work.” You can see the entire report including video at ABC News. Here is a clip of Imus’ response this morning. Courtesy of ABC and MSNBC:

Mr. Imus went on later in the show to talk about Secretary Nicholson, General Kiley, and the treatment of Iraq veterans. Basically saying there should be no excuse for what’s happening. You can listen to the audio here. It includes Mrs. Woodruff talking about whether her husband will still love her in spite of his brain injury.

EDIT: From the Army Times, soldiers at Walter Reed being punished for talking with the media. First Sergeant relieved of duty. What about the officers in charge like General Kiley?

Senator John McCain (R) Arizona was a guest this morning. He said he didn’t know about the conditions at Walter Reed’s building 18. Senator McCain said the Senate will be having a hearing in the Armed Services Committee. He said Defense Secretary Gates fired some people over this. I’d like to know who was fired. You can listen to the audio here.

McCain on Lieberman, “Well he’s the greatest guy, he’s marvelous, I’m glad you stuck with him. He’s just, he’s a person of great courage in my view.”

McCain says the war has been terribly mishandled but we are seeing small signs of success. Senator McCain says if we leave too soon there will be chaos. Those people who want us to leave now have the obligation to tell us what they believe will happen.

Jay Severin from Boston area talk radio was a guest this morning. He said Al Gore is going to run. Severin, “I think Gore is running unless some compelling circumstance evolves which prevents it.”

I love the recent report on the hypocrisy of Gore’s power bill.

Severin uttered a few words of wisdom that seem obvious but aren’t really. He says whoever is nominated has a 50-50 chance of getting elected. One single county in Ohio could decide who is President. The country is that evenly divided.

Mr. Severin commented on the popularity of Ashley Alexander reading viewer mail. He suggested a new segment be started called Ashley Reads Dirty Viewer Mail. I’m sure no readers of this blog would be interested in such a thing.

Jim Lehrer with the NewsHour on PBS was the last guest this morning. They talked about the wounded vets issue. Lehrer was very angry about Nicholson dismissing veterans seeking treatment by saying they were coming in for “dental problems.”

Mr. Lehrer said even John McCain’s reaction is not enough. Saying at least Secretary Gates has shown anger.Lehrer, “At least he’s shown anger. I think heads are going to roll over there before this thing is over with. Quicker than a lot of people believe. This is an outrage, you can’t send these kids out there to serve in our name and then say oh we’ll hold hearings on it.”

Mr. Lehrer said something that will stick with me forever. They were injured and died in our name.

200,000 have come to the VA for medical assistance

4. Where have you been the last four years, Mr Lieberman?
http://imusblog.com/

Senator Joe Lieberman (ID) Connecticut was a guest this morning. After listening to the interview I felt like I should lie down in bed and smoke a cigarette. Because Senator Lieberman just had sex with me.

Imus: It would occur to me Senator Lieberman. Particularly if you were somebody who thought this war was such a wonderful idea as you did. And continue to support this idiotic exercise and you sit on some of these committees. That you would have a special responsibility to know what the hell is happening to these kids. It’s not enough to say you didn’t know or didn’t ask the right questions. I mean that’s why we elected you.

Lieberman: We all have responsibilities and I take it very personally because I have supported the war and I continue to believe we have to do everything we can to have it end successfully. I have a special responsibility and we should all be doing mea culpas. Battlefield medicine, I’ve been too battlefield hospitals when I’ve been over in Iraq, Walter Reed in the main building unbelievable. Unbelievable heroism by soldiers who have lost limbs and are just devoted to coming back as close to normalcy as possible as they can. But the other stuff, just crazy and unacceptable and I think you’re going to see a change now.

Do everything we can? Mea culpas? Unbelievable heroism? Just crazy unacceptable? Going to see change now?

Where have you been for the past 4 years Senator Lieberman? Why didn’t you know about this? I’ve had an interest in politics and government all my life. I don’t think I’ve ever heard a weaker more pandering response ever. I can’t do a lot of cussing on the front page of the blog. If after reading this you decide to comment. Feel free to use creative colorful language to describe Senator Lieberman. You can listen to the comments here.

5. Lieberman is pathetic.
How many billions have been spent on the war in Iraq and not even a few extra dollars could trickle down to Walter Reed?

For the reason as stated

Why we are now going to be at WAR for the rest of our lives.

I want to be able to read EVERYTHING and decide for myself. I have that right. I detest censorship, bullies and snarky comments.

Every thing that has happened since is a result of LIHOP. I want to know the truth

and BTW it's meant to address the diversion tactic here in the dungeon

9. I think we have a good idea
what the truth is.

The less well informed will take a bit longer to realise. Even then it will be a gut feeling rather than any relevant piece of information.
