Israel Builds a New Settlement in Qalqilia, Plans to Divide Hebron

QALQILIA, Palestine, December 9, 2004 (IPC+ Agencies)-- The Israeli
occupation authorities have already commenced building a new settlement on
Palestinian-owned lands in the West Bank City of Qalqilia as media reports
confirmed a new dismemberment scheme is being prepared for the Hebron City.

Witnesses accounted on that the Israeli bulldozers started razing lands of
the Ezbat Salman and Eezbat Ja'loud villages, south of Qalqilia, placing at
least 40 housing units (caravans), for a new settlement dubbed Nof
Hhasharoun.

Local sources confirmed that the Israeli authorities have expropriated
approximately 350 dunums of arable Palestinian-owned lands from the said
villages, for the building of a new settlement and expansion of an already
built one 'Oranit'.

According to the road map peace plan, Israel must halt construction and
expansion of settlements in the Palestinian territories, as the February,
2004's advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice in the Hague
deemed the Apartheid Wall illegal, demanding Israel to remove it and
compensate all those affected by its construction immediately.
