Israelis fire on crowds in Gaza
Edited on Wed May-19-04 08:00 AM by ze_dscherman
At least eight Palestinians are reported killed as Israeli forces fired on a crowd in Rafah in southern Gaza.
Thousands of people were demonstrating against a massive operation in the refugee camp on the edge of the town.

Two children were among the dead, and more than 50 people were injured, Palestinian medical workers said.

Witnesses said Israeli helicopters, tanks and troops fired at marchers heading towards the Tel Sultan area where the Israel raids have been concentrated in the last two days.

The shooting came shortly after reports that thousands of Tel Sultan male residents were complying with an Israeli demand that they surrender.
