US Congressmen lash out at ICJ
Reps. Robert Wexler (D-FL) and Steve Chabot (R-OH) lashed out at the International Court of Justice Monday claiming that its integrity had been undermined because it had agreed to rule on the legality of Israel's security barrier.

The ICJ is hearing three days of oral testimony, which began Monday. Such a ruling opens the doors for future advisory opinions on the actions of the United States, Great Britain, Russia or any other country, said Wexler speaking at a Bnai Brith press conference at The Hague on Monday afternoon.

"What we are witnessing today is the tearing down of the international legal standard," said Wexler.

Marvelous news. America and Israel stand together. The court's ruling is not enforcable.

4. What was Wexler's position on Iraq?
Edited on Tue Feb-24-04 07:44 PM by _Jumper_
If he thought we needed UN approval to go to war he is being a hypocrite now.

Will any member of Congress side with the Palestinians on the Security Fence? I support it but this one-sided, blind support is apalling. We are almost as blind and one-sided as Al-Jazeera on this.

8. No,
Wexler supported the IWR and has been something of a hawk on Iraq since well before the Bush Administration. But he has also led the charge against Bush's mishandling of the situation, and was one of the few Congressmen to vote against the $87 billion supplemental funding request.

6. "The court's ruling is not enforcable."
The court is afflicted with up-is-downism.

7. Rare Honesty
David Ben Gurion (the first Israeli Prime Minister): " If I were an Arab leader, I would never sign an agreement with Israel. It is normal; we have taken their country. It is true God promised it to us, but how could that interest them? Our God is not theirs. There has been Anti-Semitism, the Nazis, Hitler, Auschwitz, but was that their fault? They see but one thing: we have come and we have stolen their country. Why would they accept that?" Quoted by Nahum Goldmann in Le Paraddoxe Juif (The Jewish Paradox), pp. 121-122.

9. Another from ben Gurion:
"No Jew has the right to yield the rights of the Jewish People in Israel. No Jew has the authority to do so. No Jewish body has the authority to do so. Not even the entire Jewish People alive today has the right to yield any part of Israel.

It is the right of the Jewish People over the generations, a right that under no conditions can be cancelled. Even if Jews during a specific period proclaim they are relinquishing this right, they have neither the power nor the authority to deny it to future generations. No concession of this type is binding or obligates the Jewish People.

Our right to the country - the entire country - exists as an eternal right, and we shall not yield this historic right until its full and complete redemption is realized."

This quotation of David Ben Gurion made at the Zionist Congress in Basel, Switzerland in 1937, more than 65 years ago.
