Bomb victim's family praise video

Israel was right to release a graphic video showing the results of a suicide bombing, a victim's brother has said.
The ministry of foreign affairs posted the gruesome video on its website following a suicide bombing on Thursday that killed at least 11 people.

"The world has to see what we are going through," Yehuda Boneh told the BBC's Newshour programme.

Israel has never made such video available before and it is not being broadcast on television there.

The video shows extremely graphic images of the kind Western broadcasters and newspapers would refuse to reproduce.

Perhaps we should rename one victim Rachel Corrie, so leftists will wail endlessly about this murder.

1. The Rachel Corrie reference was unnecessary.
She died by choice, and arrogant stupidity.

There is no comparison.

2. Amen
Though I think that Herschel's point was that the people who make and endless display at grieving over Corrie's death give notably short shrift to the victims of terror. Specifically, the victims of the very people that Corrie admired and supported. In that sense, his point is well taken. You are right however, in saying that there is no comparison.

My own view is that it would be a grave insult to terror victims and their families for them to be associated in any manner with a supporter of their murderers.

3. But sufficent Palestinians
have condemned the attacked to not present the family's behavior as the reigning opinion.

In addition it would appear as if opinions very much vary, depending on the geographic location and social environment.

4. "But sufficent Palestinians "
"have condemned the attacked to not present the family's behavior as the reigning opinion."

Are you sure that you read the article or the first post correctly? We're talking about a VICTIM's family, not the family of the murderous scum who created the victims.

As for "sufficient Palestinians", perhaps you and I have different definitions of the word "sufficient" because I somehow missed the news of the demonstrations in Gaza and the West Bank condemning this or any attack. Ever. In fact, I have seen just the opposite and base my conclusions as to the "reigning opinion" on that ample, oft-reinforced evidence.

5. I read the post correctly, I hope
Unfortunately I have seen little protests but that may not say much. I could obviously make the (probably meaningless) comment that the PA condemned it but I am also certain that large portions of the Palestinian intelligentsia were shocked.

Palestine is an Arab country with different inner workings than the West. Much of Arabia has been corrupted by colonial powers after the collapse of the Ottoman empire.

Religious fanaticism has its extremes in Israel as well and there are few protests against Israeli violence although there is a much more vocal press, granted.

I would surmise that the Palestinians have even less opportunity to voice liberal opinions due to the obstruction of the infrastructure. If one was to call a town-hall meeting outside the scope of a religious institution (mosque) - how would a group of Palestinians go about it? What mass-media are available, reliable and not part of a corrupt system?

All of Palestine has 8 newspapers which are not exactly in a position to express a wide variety of opinion.

There is no viable leadership, no feasible economy, an occupation, religious fervor fueled by this or that, 63% live below the poverty line, four times more imports than exports - Things are clearly going from bad to worse. Hitler came to power in such a climate or a similar one. Could it have been avoided? I am not sure but I would like to think so.

It is very hard to instill a secular and rational democracy into such a situation.

I offer not apologies for the bombing but am merely trying to point out where things are going wrong.

6. Egyptian response
Jerusalem (jnewswire.com) - Egypt's largest government-controlled newspaper has characterized last week's massacre of civilians on a public bus in Jerusalem as a totally justified response to Israel's ongoing war on Palestinian terror.

The Cairo-based Al Akhbar daily said at the weekend that the gruesome attack by a young jihadist bomber belonging to Yasser Arafat's PA police force was a fitting answer to an IDF raid on a Gaza City terror hideout a day earlier.
