Israel and Turkey agree 'water for arms' deal
Channel News Asia (AFP)

LONDON : Israel and Turkey have agreed a "water for arms" deal which will see millions of gallons of fresh water shipped in giant tankers across the eastern Mediterranean and into Israeli ports, a British newspaper said.

Under the deal Israel will build a fleet of giant water tankers to ship 50 million cubic metres of water a year for 20 years from the river Manavgat in Anatolia with Turkey buying an unspecified number of Israeli tanks and air force technology, according to the daily.

4. Yes. I've seen several other stories over the last year.
What is interesting is what it says about the water situation.

5. The current situation
is not drastic. Negotiations were opened when the situation was drastic. However, ample rainfall has already given Israel an edge, and probably could have done without the water purchase in the immediate short term. However, will go through with the deal as it has long term implications and also involves other trade agreements.

6. That's good to know.
The last few years here have been better too.
Not really wet, but good enough to keep the plants happy.

2. More examples of how Israel can work with Muslim nations
Especially the ones that don't attack it.

3. Yup
This is a very, very good sign for both nations. The good that this transaction and others like it do goes far beyond the specifics of this deal.
