200 Palestinian civilians homeless after Israeli forces destroy houses
(shortened long headline)

Israeli occupying forces destroy 22 Palestinian houses in Khan Yunis, leaving approximately 200 civilians homeless

This morning, in the latest attack against Palestinian civilians and property, Israeli occupying forces destroyed 22 houses in the Khan Yunis refugee camp in the southern Gaza Strip. Contrary to Israeli claims that the houses were uninhabited, preliminary investigations conducted by PCHR revealed that the Israeli military operation left 178 Palestinian civilians ( 25families) homeless. In addition, homes belonging to 6 families (approximately 40 civilians) have become uninhabitable.

According to PCHR’s investigations, at approximately00 : 30on Monday, 15 December2003 , Israeli occupying forces, reinforced by heavy military vehicles and helicopters and covered by intense shelling, moved into Khan Yunis refugee camp. During the operation, Israeli forces totally demolished 18 houses and 4 others partially, leaving 178 civilians ( 25families) homeless.

1. "fighting terrorism" by terrorizing people
"I had to gather my children and make them walk out in the middle of the night. The children were scared and crying because of all the noise from the tanks," said Umar Ahmad, a resident of Khan Yunis"

3. the reverse
is certainly true. Hamas attacks Israeli citizens to steal the land. These pictures taken yesterday are inconclusive. Some of the rubble has obviously been there for monts if not years.

7. The headline itself

is a distortion from the number presented in the article. This whole thing is contrived, as usual.

A late editing:

IDF Activity in Khan Yhunis
As part of the ongoing war against terror and its infrastructure, and in response to an increase of terrorist activity against the IDF and Israeli communities in Gush Katif, IDF forces operated last night (December 14, 2003) in the Khan Yhunis area (southern Gaza Strip).

During the operation, IDF forces demolished a number of abandoned structures used by terrorist cells to fire missiles and mortars at Israeli communities in Gush Katif.

In addition, terrorists operatives utilized the above-mentioned structures to gather intelligence for use in planning and carrying out attacks against Israeli civilians and IDF forces.

During the operation, terrorists hurled a number of explosive devices at IDF forces, lightly wounding two IDF soldiers. The wounded soldiers received first aid on the scene and were later transported to a hospital for further treatment.

In addition, terrorists fired anti-tank missiles, hurled grenades, and directed light arms fire against IDF forces.

IDF forces returned fire.

It is important to emphasize that over the past three days, terrorists have fired dozens of anti-tank missiles, mortars, and have directed light arms fire many times at IDF positions and Israeli communities in the southern Gaza Strip.

It should also be noted that during the past month, terrorists have fired 6 Qassam rockets, detonated 25 explosive devices and 19 grenades, fired 17 anti-tank missiles and 75 mortars, and directed light arms fire in 100 separate instances at IDF forces and Israeli communities in the Gaza Strip.

14. Have you got anything to support that claim?
Some of the rubble has obviously been there for monts if not years.

I took a look at the photos, and to be honest, it wasn't obvious that it had been there for months if not years. So, not being an expert in the art of putting an age on rubble, can you explain how you came to that conclusion? For me to accept what you've claimed, you'd also need to explain why you think all those eye-witnesses are lying...

The only land being stolen is from Palestinians - yet the complaint here is that Hamas steals land? Very strange.

25. ive said it before
and i say it again.
the best way to solve the I/P issue is for israel to pull back to the approximate green line (with the exception of jerusalem) and build a wall there.

then give the PA to end the terror attacks (ie arrest members of hamas, al asqa murder bridage, et al).

if terror continues after that date then israel should be free to do what ever it takes to end terrorism against them.

also jerusalem should not go to the would be palestine for this reason..... in the partion agreement jerusalem was supposed to be international city. but the UN failed to protect the city in 1948 from the jordanian army, thus i my eyes giving up that body's right to have a say over it.

the islamic holy sites should be ruled in a similar manner to the church of the holy sepulcar (sp). in that case several different sects of christianity hold sway over it.

peace
david
:hippie:

i also think something similar should be set up for the wailing wall (perhaps an opaque barrier between the orthordox/conservative and reform areas)
