. Haaretz poll: 54% of public dissatisfied with new government
The Knesset approved Benjamin Netanyahu's return as prime minister last night amid allegations that his new government is bloated, convoluted and unprepared to deal with Israel's many problems.

According to a survey for Haaretz, the public is not giving the new government a grace period, perhaps because it has so many ministers and deputy ministers, or because so many of them have dubious portfolio

The problem could also be the friction that accompanied the government's formation; two key cabinet members are suffering embarrassingly low support ratings. Netanyahu, who dreamed for a decade about returning to the Prime Minister's Bureau, will have to work hard and fast to show he is productive.
The most striking result of the Haaretz-Dialog poll, conducted under Prof. Camil Fuchs of the statistics department at Tel Aviv University, is the extent of the public's dissatisfaction with the new government. Less than a third of those surveyed said they are satisfied with Netanyahu's government. More than half, 54 percent, are dissatisfied with the new government.

1. First things first
Whatever happened to 100 days' grace? Doesn't Netanyahu deserve at least that much? nice biases showing there.

More importantly, perhaps the dissatisfied people should address their dissatisfaction to Tzippi Livni who refused to join the coalition. If she had joined, the government would have been more balanced, and moreover, would have genuinely reflected the election results where she and Netanyahu were more or less evenly split. This way, she's left the field open to him. She put her own ego above the country's good.

2. From the sound of the article she's still at it
putting her ego first but perhaps the people polled have buyers remorse or did not intend for what came out of the election?

4. Gosh, do you think having a fascist as a Foreign Minister might have a bit to do with it?
You appear to have real issues with any criticism at all of Likud or Nutty. Just a reminder that this a left-wing forum, not one to stick up for right-wing parties and fascists...

5. I didn't know that DU is a dictatorship
Am I not allowed to have dissenting views? And it's not like I have no criticism of Likud or Netanyahu; I'm just against unreasoned or unfair criticism of them - or anyone else for that matter. Just slamming them for being RW adds nothing to anyone's understanding of Israeli politics.

And I repeat my comment - if Livni had chosen to suppress her ego and join the coalition, she would have been the FM and not Lieberman (who IMHO is highly unsuitable for the job).

Dissenting views? Not if they're coming from conservatives, they're not allowed. And I'd like to see some of this criticism of Likud or Nutty you claim to have. Because it appears from yr posts that you consider just about any criticism of them to be unreasoned and unfair. Also, there's been quite a lot of criticism of them for very specific reasons, but you must have missed all that...

btw, just coz Livni quite rightly decided not to join the coalition didn't mean that the job of FM had to be given to a fascist. So don't blame Livni for it...

Yr getting angry about an opinion poll where people are expressing their dissatisfaction with the new govt. Polling in the early days of a govt is common-place everywhere and as a rule those who voted for the opposition will be dissatisfied with the new govt, and those who support the new govt tend to get all bothered that anyone is unhappy with the new govt. In the case of this poll, the reasons for being dissatisfied were stated, and I can't see how anyone here would have a problem with that. Well, in yr case, I can see how you'd have a problem with it. Hell, DU's a place for left-wingers, and a healthy dislike of RW govts is what I'd say all left-wingers here feel. To claim that we only slam them for being RW (a claim made elsewhere on the web by US right-wingers when it came to the very strong dislike of the Bush administration) is totally ridiculous...
