I wonder if he'd give the same explanation his friends in the Bush administration used in Iraq:

in Israel, after his friends there had arranged for ambulance access (he was a regular commentator on Israeli TV as well as being a doctor in an Israeli hospital before the blockade of Gaza made that impossible), he was being screamed at by Israeli men and women who were utterly vicious. They were saying he was responsible for the deaths of his children because he surely had been using his home as a launch pad for rockets or harbored Hamas fighters who were shooting at the Israeli army.
