Hamas not to blame for current crisis despite Bush claims
Source: Irish Sun

President Bush has used his weekly radio address to blame Hamas for the Israeli bombardment of Gaza this week.

On Saturday Mr. Bush said, "This recent outburst of violence was instigated by Hamas."

In rather strong language the president said Hamas took over the Gaza Strip 18 months ago "in a coup."

"Egypt brokered a ceasefire between Hamas and Israel, but Hamas routinely violated that ceasefire by launching rockets into Israel," Mr Bush said.

That's a FACT - not "opinion" - FACT.

HAMAS is the direct cause of this latest crisis and is to blame.

HAMAS hides thier rockets and munitions in Mosques, homes and businesses.

HAMAS hides behind women and children.

HAMAS deliberitely shells ONLY civilian targets.

HAMAS is dispicable.

Israel has a right to protect and defend itself.

I condemn HAMAS for what IT is doing.

"Funny" how all this time NONE of you TERRORISTS APOLIGISTTS here ever voiced "concern" for the DAILY HAMAS rocket attacks on INNOCENT ISRAELI PEOPLE...but are all set and ready when Israel strikes BACK in RETALIATION to PROTECT IT'S PEOPLE...

5. December 19th, Hamas announced an end to the ceasefire and soon unleashed a barrage of rockets
"On December 19th, Hamas announced an end to the ceasefire and soon unleashed a barrage of rockets and mortars that deliberately targeted innocent Israelis, an act of terror that is opposed by the legitimate leader of the Palestinian people, President Abbas," President Bush added.

hindsight being 20/20.
they should have re upped the "cease fire" instead of trusting in the mulah masters

14. Hamas building this tunnel during the cease fire
Israeli troops crossed into the Gaza Strip late last night near the town of Deir al-Balah. The Israeli military said the target of the raid was a tunnel that they said Hamas was planning to use to capture Israeli soldiers positioned on the border fence 250m away. Four Israeli soldiers were injured in the operation, two moderately and two lightly, the military said.

One Hamas gunman was killed and Palestinians launched a volley of mortars at the Israeli military. An Israeli air strike then killed five more Hamas fighters. In response, Hamas launched 35 rockets into southern Israel, one reaching the city of Ashkelon.

"This was a pinpoint operation intended to prevent an immediate threat," the Israeli military said in a statement. "There is no intention to disrupt the ceasefire, rather the purpose of the operation was to remove an immediate and dangerous threat posted by the Hamas terror organisation."

As far as I can tell this was no tunnel to Egypt for supplies, looks to be too far from that border

that it is always Israel's fault?

It does not matter that jewish women and children have been killed by Palestinian "urban warfare"

Palestine is ALWAYS innocent.

The fact they ignored the "treaty" and then when it expires and they get a taste of their own medicine they whine like a petulant child.

I join you in your hatred of hamas

18. The minute that Israel gives the tiniest bit of concession
reduces the restrictions an iota, it's seen as an opportunity for more terrorism.

Don't you see how stupid that is?

If the Palestinians want to live without restrictions, they have to stop the terrorism. THat's all.

I don;t even think recognition of Israel plays into it much at the moment.

Just stop the terrorism.

13. Terrorists/Freedom fighters

equally (un) funny that you war criminal-apologists never voice concern for the blockade on medicine, food, cooking gas or any chance for a decent life for the population of Gaza. (or of Palestine in general)

or that the cease-fire was broken by Israel prior to rockets. or that Israel never eased the abominable war-crime blockade in exchange for the cease fire.

Israel is the original aggressor and always ups the ante as soon as there is any chance of peace breaking out. Israel instigates and sparks conflict as it needs conflict to facilitate its long-standing policy of land theft and ethnic cleansing.

19. Absolutely right.
Tragically, some civilians die because Hamas hides among them. The Israelis realize that the idea of "proportionate response" is bullshit. They have to defend themselves, since Hamas does not have the balls to face the IDF directly and deliberately targets only civilians. At least the Israelis TRY to get the bad guys. It is a fact that if the Palestinians laid down their arms, there would be peace. If the Israelis laid down their arms, there would only be dead Jews.
