US blames Hamas for Gaza exodus
LOL. Did they really want to call it "Exodus"?

Washington - The United States blamed Hamas on Wednesday for the plight in the Gaza Strip that prompted hundreds of thousands of Palestinians to flee into Egypt to purchase supplies.

'The Palestinians living in Gaza are living under chaos because of Hamas,' White House spokeswoman Dana Perino said. 'The blame has to be placed fully at their feet.'

Palestinian militants blew numerous holes in a wall along the border with Egypt in response to an Israeli siege that cut off supplies to the tiny Palestinian territory controlled by Hamas.

1. Defense establishment angry at Egypt over Gaza border breach
<snip>

""I believe Egypt knows what its job is, and we expect them to fulfill its task in the framework of agreements," Defense Minister Ehud Barak said Wednesday, revealing the security establishment and the government's great anger at Egypt over the breach of the Rafah border Wednesday.

Barak made the statement during an interview on Channel 10 during a visit to France.

Security sources said Wednesday that Egypt's conduct raises the concern that Cairo is purposely ignoring Israel's demands. It has continued to refuse to better address weapons smuggling across the border, they added.

Israel Wednesday told Egypt that it expects Cairo to stop Palestinians' free passage into Egypt and to close the border."

<snip>

"Egypt and Hamas were holding intensive talks Wednesday to try to reach a new border arrangement that would allow for operating the Rafah crossing in an organized manner.

A senior Hamas source told Haaretz that the organization would not oppose European monitors at the Rafah crossing if it were operated by Egypt and the Palestinians, without Israel. The source said the Palestinians were negotiating with Egyptian intelligence chief Omar Suleiman."

2. Eh, I would wager that Egypt is not too pleased with Israel right now either.
And in the circumstances, I would think that pissing off Egypt was the wrong approach.

Love it "The Palestinians living in Gaza are living under chaos because of Hamas,' White House spokeswoman Dana Perino said. 'The blame has to be placed fully at their feet.'

Placed there quickly and by the republicans it's campaign contribution season in the US
