Shalom tells UN General Assembly to stop discrediting Israel
Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom told the United Nations General Assembly on Thursday night that it "must reform" and criticized its anti-Israel "hostility."

Shalom also complained that Syria and Iran, which belong to the UN, are "accomplices in the acts of terror" because they sponsor
extremist groups and demanded that they be "held accountable for their crimes."

The General Assembly must "move away from its partisan hostility that has taken over its Middle East agenda," Shalom said in his 20-minute speech.

5. The occupation that needs addressed is the occupation of PA terrorists
Their daily job of targeting innocent Israelis is about to be terminated.
The humanity branch of the UN is fed up with turning a blind eye to the terror commited by arafat and his henchmen.

15. Do you bother reading anything here at DU?
I've seen it be explained to you many times now that Arafat is not the leader of Hamas, yet you continue to repeat the same thing over and over despite being soundly refuted each time....

And cracking open a dictionary might help you out too, though I suspect the complete misuse of the word occupation was an attempt to continue yr nonstop posts that go on about suicide bombings, suicide bombings and suicide bombings. The only occupation that's happening is that of Israel occupying territory that doesn't belong to it...

18. Arafathead
Is leader of the Palestinian people. He is responsible for their actions when he does nothing to stop them. (And that's at the very minimum. Personally, I think Arafat complicit in the actions of terror.)

19. So you admit Sharon is a terrorist?
After all, the same applies to him and acts of terrorism from Israelis. I pointed out in my post that Arafat is NOT the leader of Hamas. If you want to dispute that using facts, try yr hardest...

14. Most UN delegates are from non-dictatorships
Gradually more democratic delegates has been a feature since 1945.

21. Only 50%
As the name implies, no trial is conducted for the terrorists who flaunt their death-wish, and commit endless torture and inflict unspeakable pain on innocent human beings of every age and race.

23. I forgot...
I must remember that we MUST believe the IDF without question and that they only assassinate *proven* terrorists. Nah. They've got a track record of dishonesty and have been known in the past to murder moderate Palestinians. I'll leave the blind belief to others...

3. It's about time
Why the UN has sided with the suicide bombers has always disturbed me.
The plain and simple fact that terrorist based nations get a warm seat at the table of respectable nations is beyond my comprehension.

Israel has been extremly patient in dealing with those that want her pushed into the sea. It's time to stop allowing terror to set the course of the UN.

Oh, I forgot. Siding with the Palestinians = siding with the suicide bombings.

7. The Arab world controls the oil
As much as we complain about * kowtowing to them, we never seem to criticize the corrupt nations that do just the same on their own and in the UN.

17. Maybe someone should tell that guy...
..to try dismantling the settlements and moving back to the pre-67 borders if he's so worried about Israel being 'discredited'. That would take most, if not all of the heat off Israel. He seems to be bitching about the General Assembly doing exactly what it was set up to do, which was to be a forum where every nation has a chance to be heard as equals. Which means that the GA is always real busy putting out a flurry of resolutions that no-one takes any notice of or really needs to...

I found the index of resolutions from 2002. No wonder he's pissed off. How dare that collection of rabble even dare to talk about the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and then top off that sacrilege by being concerned about the situation of Palestinian children!! Clearly it's obvious by such non-UN type 'concerns' that the UN wants nothing more than to push Israel into the sea and I'm sure in the 58th session there'll be a GA resolution titled 'Establishment of an Israel-free zone in the region of the Middle East' ;)

Bastards! They dared to have resolutions concerning The Congo! When will they learn their lesson and stop trying to discredit everything but the kitchen sink!

27. Feeling feisty today Violet?
What I mean is: I thought diplomats were supposed to be,
you know, diplomatic?

This story is kind of funny when contrasted with the troops
smashing their way through the UNRWA hospital and making all
the medical people assume the position:

9. Notice the call on Syria and Iran. Anyone care to guess which
country had a great hand in writing PNAC's plan for world domination and war?? As PNAC's allies, Likud/AIPAC/JINSA/JDL, push Bush to go to the next step in the plan (Iran & Syria), it'll be interesting to see how low he'll go in pandering to Likud loving fascists.

13. Israel should be condemned
when their actions warrant it. But if they're held to a different standard, they've got a beef.

20. The General Assembly
is a representative body. If the vote is 133-4 that does not mean that the UN is biased against Israel.
It means that 97% of the world opposes the actions of the Israeli government.

that reduces your tally. But haven't we gone far enough with the propaganda? Are all those resolutions really necessary, when they are just based on hear-say?

So the occupation of territory that doesn't belong to it and the human rights violations carried out towards the Palestinians are nothing but hearsay? Damn, and all this time I've been thinking it's for real!! ;)

26. A couple possibilities
Seems the killing Arafat talk started soon after a particularly devastating suicide bombing. It could have been to appease an Israeli public demanding to do something, anything. Also possible Israel is softening world opinion before actually doing it. After the possibility is laid out and kicked around a while, the act tiself would be less of a shock to the world community. Time will tell.
