Forces open fire on Hamas supporters in West Bank

RAMALLAH, West Bank, Dec 15 (Reuters) - Palestinian security forces loyal to President
Mahmoud Abbas of Fatah opened fire on Friday on Hamas supporters at a rally in the West
Bank city of Ramallah, Reuters witnesses said.

The security forces, dressed in riot gear, used clubs and rifles to beat back the Hamas
demonstrators before the shooting broke out. Several Hamas supporters were injured,
according to a Reuters eyewitness at the scene.
