Ben Haim and his girlfriend admitted to charges of religious offence.

Ben Haim and his girlfriend threw the pig's head into the mosque in August 2005, after dressing it in a kaffiyah (a traditional Arab headdress), sticking prayer beads in its mouth and writing "the Prophet Muhammad" on it.

About one week after performing the act, they planned to repeat the deed, but were arrested before they got the chance.

"Needless to say how severe the defendants' acts were," wrote Judge Daniel Beeri in the verdict; "details in the indictment point to prolonged and intentional behavior that poses real danger to the delicate relations between the two different groups in the State of Israel."

I don't believe the US has anything to do with these two morons throwing a pighead in a mosque in Israel; however, we have had SIMILAR incidents in this country (including a Denver mosque that was similarly defaced). The hate speech against Muslims, Jews, Catholics (or other "wrong" types of Christians), Immigrants, etc., has reached a crescendo in this country. I believe it is time for both the public, and our courts (when appropriate) to say "enough." THat is all. :shrug:

Tolerance is an American value, IMO. It is also a tenet of Christianity, though you'd never know it to listen to the RW "fundies."

5. While all hate speech is wrong, it certainly seems that it is much worse for Muslims.

I don't think anyone would last on a major cable news station if they suggested African Americans should be put in concentration camps, or Jews put in concentration camps.... But there is relative silence when it comes to Glenn Beck saying the same about Muslims.
