No recognition of Israel - Hamas
No recognition of Israel - Hamas

However, as details of the deal emerge, early reports that Hamas had implicitly agreed to recognise Israel appear unfounded, correspondents say.

The full text of the deal has not yet been released, but early drafts make no mention of Israel's right to exist.

Palestinian minister, Abdul Rahman Zidan, told the BBC the Hamas-Fatah document did not in any way recognise the state of Israel.

"There is no agreement between the Palestinians on specifically this phrase. You will not find one word in the document clearly stating the recognition of Israel as a state. Nobody has agreed to this. This was not on the table. This was not in the dialogue," he said.

3. This needs to be reported
Hamas doesn't appear to be moderating one damned bit, although the stories on this almost all appear to make it look like there's a deal with Israel in the offing. Phrases have been thrown around in the news like "implicit" rcognition of Israel and it simply isn't the case.

2. When things are unclear, it's
always assumed to mean Hamas is being what some would call more reasonable. Usually in order to defend Hamas, or show that Hamas isn't the organization it was.

But clarity is achieved from time to time, and shows the wishful thinking for what it was.

This document, which I really want to see, apparently, has nothing to do with Israel's right to exist and nothing on a two state solution.
'No two-state solution'

5. Bump.
Since the thread about Palestinians recognizing Israel is still going, I figured maybe people hadn't actually read this news.
