U.K. chief rabbi warns of `tsunami of anti-Semitism, Haaretz 1/3/2006

LONDON - Britain's chief rabbi said that a "tsunami of anti-Semitism" was spreading around the world, and said too little was being done to combat it.

Chief Rabbi Sir Jonathan Sacks told British Broadcasting Corp. radio that Holocaust denial and hatred of Jews were increasingly evident on prime time television and in best-selling books, and that Jewish communities throughout Europe had begun to experience uncomfortable repercussions.

"This is all a kind of tsunami of anti-Semitism which is taking place a long way from this country but (of) which Europe seems unaware," he said.

While hostility toward Jews stemmed from a view that Israel was the cause of global conflicts, Sacks said wars in Chechnya, the Philippines and Indonesia would be happening whether the Jewish state existed or not.

3. " ... Holocaust denial and hatred of Jews ..."
Edited on Tue Jan-03-06 12:53 AM by madeline_con
There have always been a few among us who don't think the holocaust happened. But, some people believe the moon landings were filmed in a western desert.

"While hostility toward Jews stemmed from a view that Israel was the cause of global conflicts ..."

This is a big presumption. The idea that the government of Israel is the cause of a lot of the Middle East's problems is one thing. Putting the words, "As a result of Israel's policies, I hate all Jews," in the mouths of people who feel this way is a bit of a stretch, even for the self-perceived persecuted victims of "anti-Semitism".

5. No, it's not a matter of sending more money
it's a matter of being thankful to the Founding Fathers for establishing the original United States Department of Homeland Security--->
Amendment II - A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.

6. "... hatred of Jews were increasingly evident "
This cannot go on; it has to be stopped through constant publicity and education
