1. Read these two articles in juxtaposition---
    1. , and

    2.

Unlike like many cynics and pessimists - I take this call from Zawahri as a good sign for some incremental steps towards peace in the ME -- he is urging Muslims to, in effect, work along Israelis on humanitarian aid for Pakistanis.

3. It is unfortunate ....
That it is Zahwahri who is attempting to position himself as a 'humanitarian' ... he is quite the opposite .... Given that he has killed more than a 1000 innocents (at least) he is going to have to save a whole lotta souls to balance, on the whole, his ANTIhumane program of death and destruction ....

Even as a critic of the ruling party in Israel, and one who has argued with you regarding ME issues ... I respect and applaud the Israelis for offering aid to the Pakistanis after the calamity that had affected them so badly .... I know that within the Israeli sphere, many good hearted people exist and are the worlds greatest humanitarians ... It is laudable they have come forward ....

Now: IF only the muslims could, as a subset of humanity, form a great humanitarian tradition which could respond to these awful acts of nature without any political, theological or ethnic considerations ....

Someone other than Zahwahri's ilk ....

Perhaps even to one day assist Israel in a day of need .....

Now THAT would be a great day .... eh ? ...

4. Funny Thing About Jews
so I imagine it applies to Israelis.

Many Jews, secular and religious, are very concerned about giving to the needy and becoming involved with social causes.

But, many Jews have this blind spot about Israel. The religious ones feel God gave it to them and it is their right to do whatever it takes to keep it. The secular ones might be more willing to accept a two-state solution but have other reasons for being Pro-Israel.

Anyway, so it doesn't strike me as contradictory that Israelis would ill treat the Palestinians in that strip of land between the Jordan and the Mediterranean Sea, but want to offer aid to Muslims in other areas. Just as many Muslims (and others) claim to be anti-Zionist, not anti-Semitic; many Israelis may be anti-Palestinian, not anti-Muslim.

5. We don't expect any Schindlers, Wallenbergs, or Sugiharas.

I'm about as secular (my grand kids are Catholic; we attend the UU Church 3-4 times for each time we attend Temple) as you can find and as entrepreneurial green (I have been in electric vehicles and solar energy since my college days) as you can find.

But I am never completely "at ease" about another Holocaust - and I don't expect any Schindlers, Wallenbergs, or Sugiharas.

6. funny thing is
that we also offer aid to palestenians injured by IDF fire as well as palestenain fire...we treat many of them in our hospitals (where they have no insurence) for injurys as well as disabilties.....

and some of them, using their "go to the hospital" pass, then try to blow up soldiers on the way....funny thing about them palestenains.....

7. It seems that your views have the blind spot
Having two states living side by side is one thing, but inferring that it is only israellis that treat palestinians ill and not vice versa shows your bias
