American Rifleman cover....
Indianaotnad I work with who is a avid gun enthusiast and NRA member had the rifleman magazine in are break area. I took a look at it and on the front it is totally bashing Kerry and has him pictured with Ted Kennedy. It has some so called quotes from Kerry saying he wants to tax bullets and guns.

The really interesting part is at the bottom though.

I guess the rifleman regionalizes its magazine because at the bottom it said.

I am in Indiana….

“Here is your 2004 gun friendly ballot’

President: Their Pick

Bush..of course

Governor: Their Pick

Mitch Daniels, republican of course and former Bush budget director and Eli Lilexecutiveive who also stole money from IPALCO an Indian utility come to be known as Indiana’s ENRON.

Current Governor:

Joe Kernan, a back seaterkseater on a fighter plane and POW in Vietnam.

This is the kicker though.

Senator: Their Pick

None

Current Senator:

Evan Bayh (D) is current senator (saveow sabe your comment on him.)

The kicker is his opponent a republican is a black.

So the Rifleman backs no one for senator in Indiana.

4. They Can't Back Either Evan Bayh or a Black Republican?
I would think both would be acceptable.

5. No they can't
Evan Bayh is a Dfemocrat in name only.

I personally do not have to much a problem with him but he is a GOP light democrat.

HIs opponent Scott (r) is a blackman who really has not chance of winning but still they can not endorse him.

6. I will probably not vote for a couple of local offices...
Neither candidate has earned my vote. In the past I have written in my own name.

7. Somethings weird here.

"Supports 2nd Amendment (NRA Member)"

:wtf:

http://www.nrapvf.org/elections/State.aspx?State=IN#U.S.%20SENATE

"A Solidly pro-gun candidate. An “A” incumbent who has supported NRA positions on key votes. May also describe a non-incumbent “A” candidate (one not represented with an *) who has previously held other office and cast consistent pro-gun votes, or an “A” candidate who hasn’t held office but has expressed strong support for NRA positions on Second Amendment issues. It should be noted that a “non-incumbent” candidate may have been awarded the “A” rating due solely to their responses on the NRA-PVF candidate survey".

I can't offer any explanation as to why the NRA hasn't endorsed Scott (not that I give a shit about whom they endorse). As much as some others would have us belive that the lack of endorsement has racist overtones, I don't buy it.

Think what you will.

8. I agree
I'm confused as well.

NRA isn't endorsing in that race, and it's between a D- incumbent and an A rated challenger. Is the seat in question regarded as a "safe seat?" If so, that could explain the lack of endorsement. Given the propaganda war the various pro- and anti- gun groups wage with each other, endorsements don't really get made unless the candidate has a chance in hell of winning.

9. You're probably right
Consider that Bush is a POS on gun rights, yet the NRA still endorsed him over the Libertarian candidate. The Lib candidate has not a chance in hell of winning so the NRA backs the Repub who does. More evidence that the NRA cares more about politics than straight gun rights.
