Has anyone been catching the flood of "assault weapons" that've hit the streets today? I'm looking for Uzi River and Kalashnikov Creek to run by my house. As an aside on price, a local FFL is running Kalashnikov clones for about $249.
1. Another unintended consequence of the post-AWB era
Economics 101.
The ban neither addressed the demand side of the market for semiautomatic knockoffs of military weapons nor did it make it impossible for suppliers to meet the demand. Frankly I can't imagine a ban that could accomplish either feat and have a hope of getting passed into law.
At the conclusion of the ban the inventory of formerly post-ban firearms that lack some of the "fun" features of the former pre-ban and now no-ban weapons becomes less saleable, therefore the prices must drop.
It's possible that if the ban had never been passed in the first place there would be fewer AK type rifles "on the streets" than there are today.
