The first thing I did upon registering was silence 5 individuals whose only function was to serve as irritants. I makes large portions of some threads unreadable - but at the same time it's immediately apparent that those conversations aren't worth noting to begin with.

But it certainly makes DU a more pleasant reading experience.

as evidenced by reply, you're not! :) As far as mentioning them, I certainly wouldn't mind, but as I understand it, DU rules do not permit this.

And as it turns out, it's only four. It was supposed to be five, but one of 'em managed to get himself 86'd when I wasn't looking.

On a serious note, I don't understand why more people don't use this feature. It's one thing to have a debate, even a heated debate, even a fucking argument. But when one side of the conversation consists of nothing but abuse, why bother? I'm of the opinion now that these people aren't even trying to make a point, or engage in anything fruitful. It's an old trick really. Turn the whole conversation into a raging clusterfuck, and you effectively stifle any hope of dialogue. What's frustrating is to see how many folks who ARE trying to say something get sucked in by this time and time again.

There's a whole lot more I could say on this, but it's probably best to leave it at that.
