1. Well, for totally opposite reasons, of course.
It's like matter/anti-matter annihilation.....

2. something else they agree on
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_Exile

I like the idea in theory, although I am not big on mandatory minimums. I don't like that a guy that got busted for pot 20 years ago and inherits a skeet gun gets at least same sentence as someone who has a record of armed robbery and other violent crimes.

3. Not that I ever thought I would say this ...
... but as a Life Member of the NRA, the Brady Campaign is right to give Obama an F. He's not done one damn thing to us gunowners! Well, except give us National Park Carry and guns in packed bags on Amtrak.

As for the NRA, they've still giving him an F for past statements and positions on guns. He hasn't done anything, unless they're thinking he directly ordered Fast and Furious, which seems rather far removed from the possible. Specific federal LE operations are way too far down the food chain to directly involve the POTUS.

5. Even if he had no direct involvement in fast and furious
he needed to come out with a strong denunciation of it, which he has never done to my knowledge.

Some heads need to roll publicly and with great fanfare.

But the NRA is giving him an F for what they fear he MIGHT do and as a matter of fact they're now pissed off that he hasn't made any overt move in the direction of increased gun control. They've spent years predicting doom and gloom from him and he's letting them down by not doing what they said he would do. In fact bullcrap like this is why I am no longer a life member of NRA.

9. In fairness..
it is Obama's stated position to re-institute/rewrite the failed assault weapons ban complete with magazine capacity limitations. He has not indicated any intent to abandon that desire or remove that position in a second term.

15. AWB and Obama
Bush was for the renewal of the assault weapons ban in 2004 and he was A rated by NRA. Obama is the only pol that is F rated by both Brady and NRA. He can't win for losing. NRA has become just shills for the GOP. I let my membership expire after the 2008 election because I couldn't stomach their propaganda anymore. I just hope they don't cause another ammo and primer shortage again if Obama gets reelected. Obama can hope for renewal of the AWB all he wants but it will go nowhere. The Democratic congress after 2008 wouldn't touch it because they knew Harry Reid was against it along with all of the Blue Dog Democrats. There is no way in hell that the tea-bagger elected Repuglican House of 2010 will touch it. There will be no discussion, let alone passage, of any new gun control so NRA needs to dial down the hyperbole about the Obama administration and get back to what they do best, education and training.

4. Obama does not deserve an F from the NRA
He deserves more like a D or a D+.

He signed the Wicker amendment and the Coburn Amendment. The health care bill also contains language barring gun confiscation under the auspices of health care.

If the right to carry reciprocity bill passes I think Obama will sign it, in which case his grade should be lifted to a C- or a D+.

6. His Attorney General floated the idea of another AWB.
Eric Holder, President Obama's appointed Attorney General, floated the idea of a new assault weapons ban early into his presidency. There is no way this was not done without prior knowledge and approval of the President.

11. Kay.
What's your point?

I didn't say he deserved an A or even a good grade.

13. My point is he does deserve an F.
Floating the trial balloon of another AWB 2 months into his tenure earns an F in my book.
