Three people were robbed at gunpoint early Friday morning as they left the southwest side restaurant where they work.

The robbery happened shortly after 1:30 a.m. at the Buffalo Wild Wings on Georgesville Road.

1. Yep, that's all we need: MORE GUN-FREE ZONES!
Lots of unarmed victims just looking for trouble.

2. Dude! You just defined irony.
The three employees should have politely asked him to leave the gun on the sidewalk outside before going inside to rob them.

3. The story didn't mention the thundering irony of the "gun ban..."
Was the photo announcing the "ban" made by local news, or a non-journalist?

10. I can think of nothing more offensive...
...to a Klingon than a ban on weapons.

If Klingons had a TSA, they would hand out a bat'leth to anyone getting on a shuttle-craft without one. ;)

6. Hell if I wanted to rob a store, a store with a sign like that would be my choice ...
especially in Florida. I wouldn't have to fear running into someone with a carry permit. People who have carry permits are glad to not violate the "no guns signs that store owners post, we just take our business elsewhere.

I can't remember the last time I saw such a sign on a store in Florida. I'd be willing to bet that the store owners who once had such signs pulled them down when they realized how much business they were losing or they went out of business.

If I ran a store and my competition put up a "no-guns" sign, I would hang a sign welcoming people with carry permits on my door.

23. Those type of signs also have no force of law in Florida...
the most they can do is ask you to leave/trespass you.

11. The same people...
...that developed the gas shortage in the '70s developed all these gun free zones. They work in a somewhat analogous fashion. See in the '70s we found out that there was only a shortage of cheap gas.

Today's gun free zones work perfectly......at keeping out the guns belonging to the honest folks.

Is there a requirement for specific signage?

13. Texas is the only place I know of with legal requirements on the signs ...
... it's a criminal act to bring a gun when one of those signs is properly posted. Texans seem enamored of the signs, but I don't get what's so great about them.

24. Tennessee and North Carolina do...
NC is "conspicuous sign or notice"
TN is "wording substantially similar to a 3-4 sentence notice given in statute, posted on all entrances"

16. The people at Brown's Chicken and Lane Bryant might disagree with you
If you are eager to trust your life to the whim of a criminal, be our guest.

At least have the decency (look that one up) to allow others to make their own choices.

In the meantime we're all still waiting for all those stories of "Cowboys" that shot up all the innocent bystanders? I'm sure you have a bunch of them to share?

By the way, one of these days, please tell us what's wrong with being a cowboy? You got a hard on against Roy Rogers, Gene Autry or the Lone Ranger?

ALBUQUERQUE -- A man attacking his ex-wife with a knife inside a southeast Albuquerque Wal Mart was shot and killed by a 72-year-old man Thursday evening.

It all happened around 5:30 p.m. at the store on San Mateo near Zuni. There was mayhem and confusion inside a southeast Albuquerque Wal Mart as employees and shoppers were sent fleeing by the sound of gunfire.

The victim in this case is 46-year old Joyce Cordova. She is in critical but stable condition at this time at UNM Hospital.

Albuquerque Police say Cordova had a long history of domestic violence with ex-husband Felix Vigil. A co-worker says Cordova was working in the deli was attacked by her ex-husband.

Vigil was shot to death by 72-year old Due Moore. Police won't say how many shots were fired, but some witnesses tell News 13 they heard at least three shots.

Police say Moore had a concealed carry license and is a well-known volunteer with APD's cold case unit.

“It’s probably a very good thing he (Moore) was there,” says APD Sgt. Trish Hoffman. “Ms. Cordova may not be here today if it had not been for him.”

Police say there was a valid restraining order in place against the victim's ex-husband.

Police say Moore has been very cooperative and has not been charged with any crime.

18. So, your answer is to meekly submit to criminals and hope they won't hurt you?
Call me crazy, but that doesn't sound like a great plan. Suppose the robber figured as long as he had people alone and under control, it would be fun to add a little rape to the situation. Would your advice still be that they should just lay back and be helpless victims?

22. You think a situation where a criminal can take three people prisoner is a "crowd" situation?
Believe it or not, but most robberies, rapes, and murders do NOT take place on crowded noontime street corners where there are lots of other people around.

Also believe it or not, but most defensive uses of a firearm never require you to fire.

Once again, if the robber in this situation had decided to also rape one of the people he had at gunpoint, would you still advise them to meekly submit?

20. If the unfortunate robber had a better education, he wouldn't have turned to a life of crime.
Imagine how hard it must be for an illiterate man to find a job in this economy.

How is he supposed to care for the orphans and puppies and kittens he's responsible for?

25. In Minnesota we have...
...a local gun forum at which we post photos of the signs and the names and business addresses of establishments that are posted "No Carry Zones". It's a good way to avoid these places to:
-keep out of legal trouble
-make sure you don't accidentally spend money there
-pass along to friends to do the same
-write letters to the owners letting them know they are losing business due to policy

It's actually worked out favorably in getting some places to change policy. We also post those changes and go out of our way to support those businesses. Pretty neat stuff!

Our humble forum has just a long listing of threads containing the info, with a sticky at the top of the sub-forum summing up the vital info. I like how you folks have listed the veracity of the posted signs in the comments section. Bully!
